Low-end legend for the left-handed

Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 Hybrid PJ 5 Black Left-handed, five-string bass guitar

Left-handed players have finally got a five-string that delivers Sadowsky's signature blend of precision, tonal range, and sleek design – the Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 Hybrid PJ 5 Morado BL LH. This five-string bass has a P-style neck pickup and a hum-free J-style bridge pickup – hence the Hybrid name – for an extraordinary spectrum of sounds from rich bass grooves to defined, articulate slap lines. The okoume body and roasted maple neck gives the instrument a balanced resonance and quick response; the morado fingerboard ensures the sound is balanced and warm. The active 2-band EQ with push/pull bypass makes switching between modern punch and vintage passive tones easy and intuitive. Reliable hardware, excellent build quality, and the hard-hitting Solid Black gloss finish make the Sadowsky a dependable bandmate for any left-handed bassist – whether it's on stage, in the studio, or just jamming.

Power is nothing without control

The Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 Hybrid PJ 5 Morado BL LH combines modern playability with classic features. With a 47.5mm nut width and a 12" fingerboard radius, it's always a smooth player, while the 34" scale length delivers that tight, punchy Sadowsky tone; the 18mm string spacing gives players plenty of room for all the five-string techniques. Controls for volume, balance, treble and bass mean bassists can dial in their signature tone single-handed (or indeed left-handed), and the push/pull switch allows them to entirely bypass the preamp, for pure passive sounds whenever they're called for. The Just-A-Nut III nut keeps intonation precise, and the quick-release bridge makes string changes quick and easy. Lightweight tuners, security locks and a quick-access battery compartment make this bass ready for everyday use – ideal for lefties who value both functionality and sound quality.

Left-handed low rider

The Sadowsky MetroExpress Hybrid PJ 5 LH BK is tailor-made for left-handed players after a professional, flexible instrument with seemingly endless low end. With its classic P/J pickup layout and active electronics, it's capable of a huge range of sounds, and as such ideal for session bassists (or musically ambitious amateurs!) who work in a variety of styles, be that Jazz, Funk, or Rock. For beginners, the flexibility of the pickup/preamp setup may actually be a little much at first, although the MetroExpress is so well-made and versatile that it'll happily accompany them as their skills grow. Certainly, more experienced bassists are sure to appreciate the characteristic Sadowsky tone, the ergonomic okoume body, and the reliability it brings to both live and studio work, as well as the deeper frequencies provided by the low B string.

About Sadowsky

For over 40 years, professional musicians have associated the name Sadowsky with high-end bass guitars, electric guitars, and archtop Jazz guitars. In the late 1970s, Roger Sadowsky opened his own workshop, where he started out repairing and modifying instruments from other brands. In the '80s, he began to develop bass guitars that represented his own unique vision: Soon, the name Sadowsky had a worldwide reputation for quality, thanks in part to prominent clients like Marcus Miller and Will Lee. Roger's legendary inventions include the on-board preamp for bass guitars, which helped create such extraordinary demand for Sadowsky instruments that he eventually made the decision to start producing the Metro line of basses in Japan. In 2019, the German bass specialist Warwick assumed manufacturing responsibilities for the Metro series, ensuring the name Sadowsky will continue to be synonymous with high-quality instruments for years to come.

Left hand free – for all five strings

The Sadowsky MetroExpress 21 Hybrid PJ 5 Morado BL LH delivers clean, balanced bass tones in every setting. In the hands of a pro in the studio, the active electronics deliver a clean, noise-free signal – all credit here to the clear separation between the neck and bridge pickups, which are just the thing for faultless recordings. On stage, it'll hold its own with its clear, confident sound and a look that blends subtlety with sophistication. And the rehearsal room is where the Hybrid can prove its versatility – from smooth Soul grooves and dynamic Funk to punchy Rock riffs. Paired with quality amps, preamps or DI setups, the Sadowsky shows what it's capable of, making it clear that left-handed players are finally grooving on an equal footing in terms of both sound and style.
