Guaranteed quality from a traditional house

18.07.2016
Meanwhile I own and work on a whole collection of level meters, mainly RTW.

With the latest addition, the TM3-Primus I have now several days apart. Who knows the digital devices of RTW, will be easy to find. Even for a beginner, the settings and measuring on the device are not rocket research.

I would like to point out a few things.

Why did I buy this unit?

As the most favorable member of the T M series, the Primus has "only" a CINCH input, as well as SPDIF input and output. AND a USB port. This can be used as a power supply.

OR - and that was clearly my buying decision:

The Primus can be loaded into the DAW via USB as a plug-in for technicians who record a lot on the road, and they get the audio from there. By the way, this can then be looped through the SPDIF output in the Primus. With a digital fader, the Primus can also function as a monitoring station. Cool!

Once you have set the country setting, you select your input. You can choose from several levels, as well as correlation degree meters, etc. I do not enter exactly, best discover myself! The measurement quality is outstanding, the accuracy typical RTW and on the screen everything is very well readable. BRAVO, the small screen is really razor sharp.

I would have liked to be able to create presets on the computer via App (as well as with the TM3-Smart) and then store them in the meter itself. At the press of a button, entire production-specific settings could be changed. Hardwaretechnically there is really nothing to complain about, the software should be in my opinion one or other feature to be added or changed. Also, I find that I would like the individual instruments to be freely displayed on the screen where I want, not where RTW specified.

But these are software flaws, nothing dramatic. The last firmware update dated May 2016, I'm looking forward to the next one.

To get such a precise measuring instrument under 1000.- Euro is the hammer and absolutely suitable for mobile requirements - I recommend!

Why not use a metering plug-in? Taste I find an external measuring instrument useful, it does not cost the computer any computing power and one has its level always in view.
