OK, but overprized and overrated
Wbgng 07.05.2025
I had this type some years ago. I sold it unfortunately. It was still made in Korea, thus well made without flaws, better than this one.
This here is OK. Some frets are not really polished, what should you expect for 900 Euro ... recent HB guitars made this for 160 +- in perfection. The bridge is not 100% straight. This is not important for playing, but remarkable.
The strenghts - the neck is great, a absolute pleasure to play. The gigbag is above average, and the colour is gorgeous. The pups are powerful and absolutely acceptable, but not extraordinary. The shape of body is a pleasure to play and hold.
The sound does - to me - neither satisfy the LP sound nor the Strat one (which I despise after some failed efforts, but this just a personal issue). It is a kind of compromise.
All in all, PRS seems to me not the first time a good but overrated brand. This guitar is mildly overprized for the value. Maybe a little bit better than am average Epi in view of finish, but not more. Soundwise, a Epi is the better and much more characteristic choice, with an Epi SG, you cannot go wrong. Or try some HB equivalents first and save around 600 Euro.
I will not keep this here. No love story.
