Good entry-level monitors

cristbeats, 29.09.2012
After I have been relatively long with the comparison and search busy was it this year so far. I have heard of a competitor near various entry monitors ... were the Adam A7X, Event BAS V3, Yamaha HS80M, M Audio BX8 etc. ... My budget was about 400EUR per box.

In short: The Turbo 8 have made me the most fun.
They are balanced, have an insane stereo location and go down deep enough! For jazz recordings with clarinet or accordion, the flaps / key noises can be heard - this was often not the case with my hifi boxes and the other monitors!
The setting in my quite problematic 9qm room had made me worry, but was no problem! The sweetspot is relatively wide. Also the distance to the wall is no problem!

In the end it is a top production box, it does not sound too analytical (Adam A7X), so it makes fun to produce, but is compared to the event or the HS 80M much more linear and differentiated in the sound image, so mixing is also very much quite possible! (Phase problems, stereo location, depth staggering, etc.) In comparison, the HS80M and Event BAS v3 sound like with built-in compressor and smile in the frequency response. In contrast to the ADAM A7x they sound not so reserved and lame but really fun! The Frexenzverlauf is super, they go beautifully down and the highs sound really impressive Clear and do not rattle / shriek!

In my opinion the best thing in this price segment!

So, now for processing:
The speakers look very sturdy, nothing wobbles all the switches and potentiometers sit tightly.
Unfortunately, the Potis only lock in the middle. I would have liked a fine grid.
Also the 'Designed and Engeneered in Germany, Assembled in China' you can see. The front plate is not completely cleanly placed, with accurate looking you can see different gap dimensions to the housing. On the other hand, I can ignore it well, because the sound can - like in many test reports described - loose in a higher price segment play along ...
A slight background noise of the tweeters can be heard, but not more perceptible at a distance of one meter.

One of the delivered LS has paint faults and the front is then too much 'slipped'.

I think these speakers have their target audience clearly in the field of electronic music. For masters / mixing of classic / film and other areas they sound but then too fat.

Excellent monitoring speakers

CHM, 13.09.2013
I ordered 2 of these speakers for my home studio and from the first listenings I was very impressed by their formidable precision. They superbly highlight the good mixes but irremediably demolish the bad. I literally rediscover all my music.

They have a very good manufacturing quality and a good range of input / output options.

I wonder how I could work without such a product for all these years. They are quite expensive, but I would do this purchase with eyes closed.
