Asklepios2504, 26.07.2018
Foreword:

After a long time I bought the Marshall DSL1HR. Before that, I played the Marshall Code 50 as a re-entry into the electric guitar world. I liked the code, but it finally had to be a tube amp, which really gives back what you present to it.

Now the problem: I live in a rented apartment on the third floor. I hear the neighbors and you hear me. And since I personally personally feel frequent squandering while practicing (if everyone has to hear it all the time), I had to produce an AMP that can also be quiet.

I played dozens of amplifiers, mostly combos, which sounded so flat and sticky with the internal speaker that I did not enjoy it at all. So I thought about top parts with a 1 * 12er box. And so I came after a long research on the DSL1HR.

Delivery:

The DSL1HR comes with a very sporadic manual. But more than that in there is actually not to say. He also comes with a footswitch that allows the guitarist to switch between clean and gain channels. In addition, the DSL is still a box cable attached.

Look and feel:

My top is processed absolutely clean, it stands straight, feels valent, just great!

sound:

First of all to my setup: I play the DSL with a Gibson Les Paul and the Egnater Tweaker 112 Cabinet (which I immediately ordered with the DSL).

The Marshall makes my sound everything right.
In the "Classic Gain" channel, I first noticed how beautiful and harmonious my Paula can sound clean. With the NeckPU you have a great warm "earthy" sound that just sounds great. The BridgePU elicits the amplifier its "funky" side that sounds brighter and much lighter. I've never loved playing clean like this dwarf. As soon as you turn up the clean control you get the final stage distortion that just rocks (but is too loud even on the 0.1 Watt setting for "quiet" practice).

In the "Ultra Gain Canal", just the Gain Channel, there's every spectrum from crunchy blues to light metal. But if you turn the Gainregler over 13 clock wins the DSL only compression, but without increasing the actual gain. For metal enthusiasts, therefore, a pedal in front of the AMP.

The 3-band EQ is very useful and allows a variety of settings.
He's good enough to be able to switch between styles of music, but simple enough to get a good sound without a rock music graduation. Only the Tone-Shift-Button is a useless feature: The button takes out the middle of the guitar and it just sounds dull as if you were practicing with earplugs. But maybe I just did not understand what you should use the button for.

The reverb sounds amazingly good! From gentle lifting of the sustains to the church hall, he can do everything. But from about 12 o'clock the Hall mMn sounds too artificial and I would therefore rather use a pedal. However, the Reverb before this position is more than useful and has saved me until today the purchase of a Reverbpedales.

Volume and sound with the attenuator:

The DSL has a 1 / 0.1 Watt switch on the back. In my above-described housing situation, I play the exercise in the 0.1 watts mode at volume values ??at about 9 o'clock. Thanks to the 12 inch speaker, I still have a rich sound that spares me embarrassment for playing many games. But even on the 0.1 watts setting, I can turn up the small DSl so loud that the neighbors can hear me clearly. The 0.1 Watt mode does not sound 100% as nice as the 1 Watt mode, but still really good!
And how loud can 1 Watt? The ridiculous 1 watt full open are clearly above room volume, so you probably hear the whole apartment building clearly. But it is "quiet" enough to be able to play once in a while without being deaf for two hours.

Headphones / Di- Out / Effects:

I have not tested both the DI-Out and the effects loop. But to use the output for headphones, I felt as a bland. It is hardly fun, the volume is too weak and does not have the tonal finesse like the Cabinet.
Too bad, but the AMP can be quiet enough for that.

Conclusion:

If you like rock sound, do not want to disturb your neighbors and still want to experience a great sound at home: Buy the thing (best with a 1 * 12 box or just 4 * 12)! He is cheap, looks good and sounds like a big guy.
I love the part.

perfect for me

tinkywinky, 11.02.2018
what foot to work at home without putting the volume 2 mm above zero! finally a real amp suitable for repeating without taking the lead with the volume.canal clear the volume does not go up almost half pass but goes into crunch mode, perso for me is that happiness and for the channel is saturated , not really clear to get out of the crunch, and quickly limited in the satu (far from a sound for big metalheads) but a good old marshall sound that goes from led zep to a little more than big hard rock. in short a marshall that sounds like a marshall of the year 90, I love IT !!
the head is ultra light, the foot !! cons cons to reserve to work at home until the lil beef with friends with an electronic drums, a little light to play with a real drums, bass, etc .. in short if we well is aware that this is a home studio amp, it's the dream amp. (There will be tjr chipoteurs who will find that leds amp or footswich sound too powerful, etc. ..), report quality price I put a 9.5 / 10 (compared to the many amps that passed me in the hands!
good little amp head.
