I got it being myself a huge SP fan, it's impressive how close you can get a SD tone with this pedal and some minor tweaks on the amp.
I had the PI NYC Big Muff (transistor versione) in the past, this is a better one if you're after the SP's vibe and tones.
I've never had the 70's old real Op Amp version so I cannot compare the 2, but from the rewiews i read and seen (from YT), it's really close to it.
The only little notice may be the spacing of the knobs, sometimes when adjusting the tone knob, it's easy to touch the knobs above, apart that the mini size is ok!

K
Excellent fuzz pedal for reasonable price
Kenti 15.07.2020
Saw this pedal after interview with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, and wanted to try it out. You can easily dial in the pumpkins sound.
Use: For grunge sounds and white stripes type of sound, it is pefect.

Pros: Excellent soundimage, really captures the sound of the original
Cons: Needs a bit of volume to start shining. Specially on tube amps where you need the tubes to start cooking.

Build quality seems very good so far. No complaints with Electro Harmonix in general. never had a problem with their pedals.

The Best of the Best

The Op-Amp Big Muff Pi. What more needs to be said?

This handy little guy provides that much sought after fizzy fuzzy goodness you've heard on countless recordings. It's great for '60s psychedelic stuff, '90s grunge, and so much more.

I've been using it's unique tones to sew some guitar into synth-pop compositions.

5 stars. A smashing success!

S
EHX DID IT AGAIN
Sinay 29.01.2019
I always dreamed to have that Smashing Pumpkins sound so I ordered this pedal pretty much immediately after EHX announced it (with Billy Corgan himself!).. I was very excited to try it and I was not disappointed!

Although it's a very dirty fuzz (with lots of high-end crunch) it is SUPER VERSATILE!
Try leaving the Tone knob all down, or playing with the OP-AMP button and you'll get very different kinds of sounds depending on how high your sustain is.

I recommend turning everything to the max with the op-amp turned on and let it rip.. But it's your choice really, and that's a cool fact about this pedal.

I love it and very happy with it!
ONLY PROS.
