Nice Kick Resonant Head

Nicely made and sounds good. Especially the details of the hole is very nice.

I bought this skin mainly because it is black and thought it would look good on the kit. After tunning the kit the kick drum was sounding fantastic. When I went to record the kick I found it impossible to get a good sound coming through my monitors. I have recorded many kits and have never had as much trouble getting a good sound as I had with this skin. I tried every variation possible and no matter what I done the sound was muffeled and dead sounding. It seemed to work in the oppisite way to usual. The further I put the mic into the hole the less beater I was picking up and the more bottom end I was getting. I ended up putting back on the old Remo that came off and was able to get a great sound straight away. For me its nice sounding on the kit but not for recording.

Difficult to get a good sound out of this skin! I was using a Shure kick mic, mounted in the hole, but the sound wasn't as expected. But the kick sound is good to the ear. I don't know what exactly am I getting wrong. They are affordable and they fit well a black Tama kit.
