Thomann Prim Balalaika 3-strings

This instrument is a good compromise between quality and price but some improvements have to be made.


PROS:
-Nice look, nice finish
-Interesting price for an uncommon instrument

CONS:
-Bad quality strings that rapidly have to be changed (appropriate guitar strings can be used)
-The brigde should be glued; its moves fastly out-tune the instrument
-Tuners are cheap-craft; however with the two previous improvements it keeps the tune quite well though it's a little tricky to set it precisely
-The gloss is nice but too thick and it smothers part of the sound


CONCLUSION:
An accessible instrument that with a few easy improvements is a good compromise for a beginner or a part-time user
However, if you're looking for a good instrument (eg you're a good player) you definitely should choose another one.

Ich bin kein Profimusiker und habe mir diese schöne Balalaika primär aus Neugier gekauft, da ich noch nie einen Dreisaiter in der Hand hatte. Ich benutze sie zwar momentan kaum, habe aber vor, sie in Zukunft stärker zu nutzen.

Als erstes habe ich die Saiten getauscht, da sie mit 3 Stahlsaiten geliefert wurde. Ich habe sie ersetzt durch die empfohlene 2x Nylon, 1x Silber Kombination für die 2 unteren und die obere Saite in der Standardstimmung (E' E' A'). Der Saitentausch lief vollkommen problemlos, und der Klang ist jetzt genauso wie erwartet.

Die Stimmstabilität war nach ersten Tests gut.

Die Verarbeitungsqualität gefällt mir sehr, alles tipp-topp. Ich habe nichts zu beanstanden.
