I used this in a DIY bass build. Because it fits in a simple straight channel it is one of the simplest types of rod to fit, making it a good choice for amateur builders like myself. It is quite small in section, which would allow for a slim neck if desired. It does require some care to keep glue out of the exposed screw threads when installing the fingerboard, and it might be a good idea to apply some lubricant to the threads before installing.
The adjusting nut is plain steel rather than plated. This is not a problem in use, but I prefer to use a cover over the adjustment cavity rather than leaving it on view. It is a dual action rod which could be used to add relief as well as to reduce it. In practice, I have never needed to add relief to a neck, but it is reassuring to have that capability.
