Great sound and look!
I have been using Evans drumheads for over 20 years and they never disappoint. This particular Onyx head lives on my Ludwig Black Beauty snaredrum and is a significant upgrade from the original single ply head that came with the drum. It is easy to tune, looks great and sounds powerful. It is also remarkably sensitive for a 2-ply head and doesn't muffle even the most subtle ghostnotes. All in all a perfect head. And did I mention it looks fabulous on a black snare drum?

New favourite drum heads
I use the Onyx heads on my 12" tom, 14" floor, and 14" Ludwig Supraphonic snare drum. It sounds amazing on all of them. I like the texture, it works well for brushes too. Although it's sold as a tom head, it works perfectly on snare drums, too and has a great tone. I tune mine pretty high and it's cutting without any problems.
