Pyramids at its best

Using the third different product of Pyramid on my Hofner bass again I have to say the quality is great. They feel great. You can play them very comfortable, thy fit very great on the bass. Playing it acoustically you realize very fast the aggressive stainless steel sound of this set of bass strings by Pyramid. Plugging it into the amplifier the sound gets warmer and deeper again which is the typical characteristic of a Hofner Beatles Bass, but this time with some more aggression. Compared to the Flatwound set of Pyramid the tone lasts much longer and has greater sustain and is much more than a simple "Plop" and makes it not that vintage but different with a bit modern touch.

Finally good strings for short scale bass

Leider gibt es bei diesen, speziell für den Danelectro Longhorn shortscale Bass hergestellten Saitensatz doch Probleme:
Der dicke Teil der E-Saite ist deutlich zu lang. Er wird wegen der Länge des dicken Teils auch mit auf die doch sehr dünnen Wirbel aufgewickelt. Das erschwert das Stimmen der E-saite erheblich. Das dünne abgesetzte Saitenende paßt nicht durch die Bohrung. Ich mußte sie auf 2,0mm aufbohren. Die A, D und G-Saiten passten mechanisch ganz gut.
Das Klangbild ist richtig gut abgestimmt. G - und D-Saiten klingen nicht wie oft üblich nach tiefer Gitarre sondern tatsächlich nach Bass.
Durch den tiefen satten Klang zusammen mit brillianten Höhen und für Shortscaler recht langem Sustain bin ich trotz der mangelhaften Herstellerkontrolle der Saiten dank Eigenarbeit doch zufrieden.
