Best pedal that does the least

Despite this pedal essentially only having two knobs that actually changes the sound, this is probably the best pedal I ever bought. I can route my old crap guitar through it, and it will sound like butter being rubbed over a baby's soft facial tissue.
Worth every penny!

I would have given up on this.

I would have given up on this if it wasn't for all the rage from uncle Larry and others. When I first got it I felt like it did the same thing as any of my other good overdrives. But once I started recording and listened back, then it was evident that my tone had done a great leap with the ODR-1. It's like it's auto-sounding-good. With my amp and SSS Stratocaster I run the knobs pretty much at noon, perhaps the Spectrum closer to 1 o'clock, bass cut at around 10 o clock. The 30th anniversary version in gold has top mounted jacks which I really like. I've tried other ODR-1 but liked this one the best.

Maybe the best ODR ever made

The Nobels ODR-1 30th Anniversary Overdrive is basically the ODR sound perfected. It keeps that signature wide, natural feel—no mid-hump nonsense—just your guitar and amp, but bigger, richer, and more polished.

The key upgrade over the classic Nobels ODR-1 is the external bass cut. Older versions could get a bit woolly; this fixes it instantly depending on the guitar/amp. Compared to the Nobels ODR-Mini, the 30th feels more open and dynamic. The newer Nobels ODR-1X adds flexibility, but the 30th keeps it simple and just nails the tone straight away.

And the gold finish? Completely unnecessary… and therefore absolutely essential. It doesn’t just sound good—it looks like it knows it does.
