Yamaha CGS103A Classical Guitar

Classical Guitar

Many children start playing the guitar between the ages of eight and ten. And it was precisely this group that Yamaha was considering when designing the CGS103. With its smaller neck and body dimensions, this instrument lies exactly between a ½ and a full-size guitar and offers perfect comfort when playing, therefore promoting pleasant and productive learning.

Thanks to its spruce top and its bottom and sides made of nato wood - which is similar to mahogany and also often used for significantly more expensive models - the sound of the guitar is balanced and dynamic. The ideal complement to this is embodied by the one-piece, high-quality rosewood fretboard and a solid rosewood bridge.

Great sound for small money and small fingers

Rainer B., 13.10.2009
I got this 3/4 guitar for a young student who wants to start teaching at the age of nine.
In a bundle with a gigbag and footstool the price for a beginner guitar is very attractive. From the sound I was surprised because of the smaller size very positive. The processing is - as is always the case with Yamaha - prima if you ignore a minimal glue excess on the bridge. Mechanics, neck and frets are processed cleanly. The playability is very good even for adult hands.

The delivery via Thomann was accustomed fast and all items carefully packaged. As a small suggestion one might perhaps still consider to offer in the bundle, music stand, tripod and alternative guitar schools.

Overall you can recommend this guitar because of the price-performance ratio for a beginner really very recommend.

not bad

Philippe232, 04.06.2011
I bought this guitar for my 11 year old daughter who has fairly long and fine hands. I wanted to buy a brand (I already have an excellent Yamaha guitar silent). The grip is not bad but not great either. I find the handle a bit rustic, some frets exceed (but not at least to hurt anyway). The quality of manufacture of the case is also not great because we see some drips of varnish. The sound corresponds to what I anticipated a guitar like this: perfect to learn but obviously it is not a guitar that will keep more than 2 years of lessons in my opinion. To conclude: perfect for a beginner who is not sure it will continue but otherwise average value for money.
