B
my new go-top pedal ! Amazing tone
Biboche 15.09.2020
Exceptional sound, that was exactly the OD sounds I was looking for, sitting between clean/crunch and drive. Works superbly with single coil or humbucker (although more crafted for singles).
The Boost round up the already rich sound.
Too early to find any cons, but very happy with this purchase, worth the money.

As an aside, despite some delivery issue with UPS (catastrophic service), Thomann has been extremely helpful and swift in their response and assistance.
TOP NOTCH service by the Thomann team!

but strongly encourage to change your carrier :)

MT
Magic pedal!
Mario Torre 21.10.2022
This pedal is magic. It combines a great booster (it does make everything louder, there's no volume control here, you can just decide how much boost you want to give!) with an overdrive (you can control the overall volume here), and any combinations of the two. Volume staging is a bit tricky, however the boost is really meant to be turned on and never look back. On my '65 Twin Reverb with my single coil guitars it ranges from a wonderful smooth saturation to a warm overdrive, it really does make everything sound better and helps taming the overly bight bridge pickups. The overdrive section has a vintage character, to my ear it reminds a bit the sound of a RAT with the tone toward the close end of the spectrum, but at the same time without giving away the more modern sounding taste, with a good balance of mids, bass and trebles, overall a bit more defined. It also cleans up very well with the volume knob of your guitar and is very reactive of the playing style, a lot more dynamic that a RAT, to keep the same reference point (and to be clear, this is not a RAT substitute, if anything, it does complement it very well). If you have limited space on your pedalboard, this may very well be the only pedal you may need, otherwise it complements other booster or overdrives extremely well, and because it cleans so well and is so responsive to the dynamics of playing, it takes delay and reverb effects particularly well, even darker sounding ones like the carbon copy. I think single coil guitars will shine with this pedal the most, but the overdrive is definitely great on beefier pickups such as PAF humbuckers and P90s, and the booster has a tone control that makes it flexible with those pickups too. Highly recommended, especially if you have a violet telecaster!

After all the videos on youtube I had to buy it.

It doesn't disappoint.

I haven't turned it off since it went on the board!

S
Fabulous tones.

If you haven't heard this or tried one then you need to. A beautiful drive and a powerful boost all in one. It is very rarely switched off on my board - basically you can dial the drive back to get very subtle crunch or go for full tilt mayhem. Very responsive to your guitar volume and tone control too - there i just too much goodness here. I use it with my strat, prs and explorer. Makes the pickup type differences even more notable, if that makes sense. Danish Pete uses it with his tele to good effect and so the strat is also good. I also like it with the humbuckers, even though it is voiced for single coils.
Long and short... it is up there price wise, but it is worth every penny. The construction (case) is epic... just don't try and read what the knobs do! The silver engraving on the silver (very silver) case is difficult to read. If there was anything I'd change though would be to go with soft switches for a mk3. (the finish of the mk2 is also more readable, but I like the chrome aesthetic). Inside the unit is also a work of art, precision and hand crafted excellence. The chips are socketed (nice) and it is all discrete components and not the 'impossible' to repair surface mount.
The case is probably one of the few things that would survive a nuclear weapon. I have deducted just one point for the hard to read and keep clean colour, but mainly for the switch - very heavy, very clicky. But don't let that be an issue, because once turned on you are likely to leave it that way :)
