Finally no more batteries!

Matthias9595, 31.12.2015
I have the pickup with preamp built by a guitar builder. The construction with the circuit board at the end pin seemed to me somewhat fragile for the self-construction with my impatient guitarist fingers. But the connection stops and until now nothing wags. I use the Mi-Si in a Furch Dreadnaught. The guitar has unstamped a proper wumms and over the pickup it also sounds very punchy and balanced. The pickup works as compared to a B-band with a simple preamp in the endpinjack (which I also like a lot), a lot louder, which I like. I use the guitar live and in the studio, the pickup system works reliably and the sound is immediately present and usable without EQ processing.
The highlight is, of course, the built-in rechargeable capacitor, which makes the nasty 9V block superfluous.
So I do not need to worry anymore, the battery could give up the ghost during the gigs and the often cumbersome change, which is very much worth! The combination with the LR baggs piezo is well done.
The open circuit board opposite I am still suspicious, but so far I have no problems, on the contrary! The price is appropriate for my feeling. I would also like to try the magnetic Mi-Si pickup, but because I am frightened by the price rather ...

Absolute insider tip in sound and function

06.09.2016
As a declared Piezo-opponent (I swear on magnetic pickups and have the three acoustic guitars of Guild and Larrivee the Seymour Duncan MagMic built in) I first mentioned the possibility to load the pickup in 60 seconds over the socket. I wanted to use my Guild D50 for pure Unplugged sessions and therefore expand the MagMic, which is visually, of course, not as beautiful as a completely installed pickup. The MI-SI has fascinated me with the simplicity: no battery, no potentiometer, no unnecessary cables and yet an active pickup with the possibility to charge it via the socket. Because if I would like between the Guild to close an amp, then this should work simply and easily. After I first tried a shadow design Undersaddle Pickup, I came to the MI-Si.

The installation was completely easy. The charging works best and the battery holds, as indicated, very long. And now to the sound: I was ready to take so many advantages also a few disadvantages in purchase. I was curious about the sound. But I was positively surprised: no piezo chirping, no plastic sound, no piezo compression, no over-stressing of individual strings. For this a round, warm sound with a lot of dynamism, dry present basses and clear, not too sharp highs.

So I can recommend to anyone looking for a simple very good sounding pickup, only to try the MI-SI. By the way: the Mag-Mic in my other guitars (Guild F-50 and Larrivee LV-10) I will be built. I use them as stage guitars, I also use effects such as Overdrive, and am very satisfied with it. But the MI-SI remains in my Guild Dreadnouht.

Recording Acoustic Guitars
The acoustic guitar is one of the most frequently recorded instruments in the studio, but it is often recorded poorly.
