Super part

ProfessorNachtigaller, 06.03.2017
Conclusion: I am completely satisfied.

I bought this tuner, because it annoys me again and again the tuner somewhere from the side to grasp, connect and follow. In addition, play in rooms with background noise, which my Korg OT-120 quite stress can. In the search for a tuner, I was also important that it can be calibrated and very accurate.

I put the Korg Sledgehammer on the head of the guitar, so that the display looks directly at me when I look in normal play position towards the head of the guitar. In this position, the device is clearly visible to others (it looks as if I had attached a mini-reading lamp to the guitar). But personally I do not care if the tuner is visible to others.

Just as I attach the device I conveniently reach the rotary switches and can grab them well and look directly at the display when I look toward the head of the guitar. The device can be calibrated and has several mood modes. In the standard mode, the device functions as a standard tuner with needle, except that a green bar on the display has the role of the target marker (calibration mark) and a blue bar is the needle. In addition, there are two other modes: Half-strobe and strobe. The latter I do not use. Half-Strobe (my personal default) works just like the default mode with changed display. In this mode, several blue bars as well as movements are used to visualize deviations. In this way the instrument can be tuned very precisely.

The device convinced me completely. I think it's just great. What I would have liked for the price: A small bag or a small sack in which you can store the device if you do not put it in the instrument case.

Pros:
+ The device is small we fit in probably every instrument case.
+ The display is very easy to read.
+ The position and angle adjustment leave nothing to be desired for me.
+ The thing looks just great.
+ The tuner is very simple and quick to operate.
+ The tuner is very accurate

Cons:
- For the price I would have wanted a small bag.

Nearly perfect...

Bass, 27.06.2016
Over the years, I tried almost every cliptuner on the market and of course I bought a lot of them and tested them in the rehearsals and on the stage.
I play double bass, acoustic bass and electric bass - and most of the cliptuners have (big) problems to recognize the deep E-string or even change between a basic pitch of the fifth and the third ...

Bottom line, I was with the Snark tuners most satisfied, which because of the limited possibility of the display to rotate, the double bass bridge are not so clearly visible. Also with the Snark one had to look at the contrabass for the respective sound already times a "sweet spot", because not everywhere has one "reception".

A further start I have done recently with the PolyTuneClip of TC-Electronic.
Good device, but the operation of the small and flat buttons did not please me in practice at all and the feature of PolyTuning I do not need.

First try: the Sledgehammer Custom.
Because of the long preface, I can make it short.
The tuning is excellent, all tones / strings are easily detected in all positions stable.
On the double bass it does not matter where I put it.
And finally: no more button cells!
An AAA battery! ... what a blessing! As shown in Fig.
The fixation of the tuner is good, since nothing comes off when he stays at the instrument.
The positioning possibilities of the display are also good.
The stoboscope and the half-strobe tuning bring on the bass mE nix. Whoever likes it will be happy.

The tuner is almost perfect for two reasons:
1. A display with a green and otherwise blue strokes has little color contrast. Especially in bright ambient light, the mE is not the best choice.
2. The narrow rotary switches are smooth and because they also taper to the outside, you are "poor" for people with dry skin (for me).
A gumming or at least a rough surface would have had to be at the price actually ...
(I've solved with a narrow strip of 3M anti-slip tape the problem for me)

Conclusion:
I am very satisfied, especially because of the good and accurate sound reduction and the departure from the button cell.
