D
An Incredible Microphone!
Dínenðál 04.03.2026
I first heard about this microphone through a bandmate and wanted something with a little bit more punch than my ‘58. I was not disappointed. In the practice room and the studio, the difference was stark. It handled my low growls and high shrieks with ease. I demonstrated switching between the two circuits, position 1 was a good all round sound, whereas position 2 seemed to increase the clarity and punch a little. Adding phantom power turns the microphone into a totally different animal, it’s an absolute beast. I use an active circuit transmitter and the microphone works perfectly well with it. Just for reference, I sing in a black metal band, with high shrieks, low growls and some Gregorian singing sections. This microphone handles everything! And then there’s the aesthetic, this microphone looks like a cool ancient alien artefact, it’s solidly built and has a nice weight to it. I’ve recently sung live and it handles the live setting perfectly well. My only criticism is that it can create feedback if held down too near the stage monitors, my ‘58 never does that. I just adjusted my act a little to compensate and it worked fine.

TB
Delivers everything it promises!
TVJ Barcelona 20.02.2026
I bought this mic for live performances in my rhythm & blues band as an upgrade to my existing mic - the "tried and tested mic of live performance". The Aston Apex Void lives up to its aesthetic - a definitive space age look - with good build quality and a solid feel. It IS noticeably heavier than what I used before, and is a tighter fit in standard mic holders. The dynamic "lower position" setting is more forgiving, while the "upper position" (which I use) provides much better clarity to cut through the guitar and bass without being overpowering. The phantom power feature does provide noticeable additional clean gain, which I haven't had a chance to use in a live setting yet, but it does sound promising. Overall, I love it!
