XLR Input Capsule
I've been using the Zoom H6 as a field recorder with my camera rig. The EXH-6 allows 2 extra inputs along side the existing inputs on the H6.
The unit plugs into the H6 in the same way as the other add- on capsules.
Connection to the inputs is via non locking combo XLR/TRS sockets, providing both microphone and line inputs with the same specifications as the inputs on the main unit.
Just like the other attachments for the H6, the EXH-6 is a very sturdy, metal cased accessory.
I have seen certain reviws which criticize the use of non-locking XLR sockets. I suppose to a degree the advantage gained by using locking sockets would be a matter of taste. Would you prefer your portable recording device to go flying if a cable is pulled by mistake, or would you prefer it to come out of its socket? In any case, the action of the connection when inserting a plug feels sturdy and secure.
The HXH-6 does not support phantom powered microphones. This, in my view is a major shortcoming, but maybe a 'version 2' will.

Gives some great options
I have a pair of H5's and the EXH-6 really expands what I can achieve in a recording. It's turned my H5 into a 4 track that's practically pocket sized

Fantastic Add on to an already fantastic unit
the Zoom EXH-6 Combo Capsule is a fantastic add on to the Zoom H6 recorder unit.
Although the h6 has 4 XLR ports on it being able to expand the the unit by another 2 ports is pure ingenious.
When your out and about filming or especially recording a a band you can never have enough audio inputs that will then give you plenty of tracks that will allow you to have your pick of things that may well of been missed.
If you hadn't got this little and quite reasonably priced add on to an already fantastic product that Zoom have created at the time when you bought your zoom recorder unit and you needed to record more than the 4 inputs that you had on the unit you would be kicking your self more than just once.
If your hesitating about buying this unit I would recommend JUST BUY IT you wont regret it I know that I have for one second

Great product
I bought the Zoom EXH-6 Combo Capsule from Thomann couple of months ago. I have been using this with my Zoom H6 for additional inputs. This extension works as well with the Zoom F4 and F8 which is really cool.
Nothing bad to say at all about this, ut simply does the job and gives you additional inputs for your recorders.
I recommend this capsule.

Turns your H6 into a real 6 channel recorder
Nothing special, just a great addition to your H6, turning it into a versatile 6 channel recorder. Really helpful, good sound for line level sources. Preamps a bit noisy with microphones that don't have a hot output signal...

It boosts H6's ability
Well, H6 may be a bulky 2-ch XY or MS recorder.
However, once you use this EXH-6 combo, it becomes an incredibly compact mobile 6ch MTR.
You don't need any computer to record your band at the concert!
Just plug the cables, push the rec button and play.
Then you can edit them at home.
PS: I want a better end-cap as Zoom says it is like a DSLR camera.
Generally DSLR lenses have much better caps for protection!

Does what it says very useful
I use the Zoom h5 both for shootings and music recording.
On shootings I can have 1 boom mic and 3 lavs or 2 boom mic and 2 lavs and for music recordings its use is obvious. For instance drums recording with 2 condenser for overhead or room mics and 2 dynamic for close micing kick and snare. Or 2 condenser with stereo arrangement and 2 dynamics for close micing.
The product is well built, very fast and easy to use and does what it says with no problems.
The preamps are same as h5 so you know what to expect (get noisy but still usefull after you pass the 6 mark on the knob).

Excellent! Too expensive!
Everything is fine with the accessory, it works wonderfully well... If it weren't for the excessively over-inflated price this would be easy 5 star...
Only buy if you REALLY need the two extra channels directly (don't forget you can use only two channels on the zoom to get in stereo signal from a mixer, sometimes that'll solve the issue)

Two extra inputs
Some reviewers have complained that the inputs don't accept phantom power but they are missing the point here. This capsule is an alternative to the three possible mic configurations that are available from Zoom. As such it does it's job well and allows all sorts of stuff to input. I recently miked up a drum kit on my mackie desk and recorded it in stereo using this. Stereo keys, DI the bass etc. does the job well.
