P
NOT a distortion!
PegLeg 20.02.2024
As the title says this is not a typical distortion pedal.

I use it with a '67 Deluxe Reverb to push the signal a little more when the amp is on the verge of overdrive, i.e. where the good things start to happen soundwise.

If it's not a distortion pedal, what is it?
A: It's obviously an attempt to make your amps sound like a Dumble.

B: It will give your sound a slight compression and a slight distortion, like when you push a classic 60's/70's amp a little - i.e. LOUD!!!!!!!

C: With a typical Strat you can approximately double the signal hitting the pre-amp.

Pros: I've never heard a Dumble in real life so I can't comment on how close it is to the real thing, but judging from recordings of Robben Ford etc. I'd say it comes close.
Controls are straight forward.

Cons: It might take some time to fully appreciate and dial in the way YOU want it to sound, thus it's not a pedal that everyone "needs".

L
Dumble?
Lars5995 29.12.2021
Vete faen, men bra är den. Alltid på. Gör nåt gött med ljudet.
Saknar dock lite volym. Om man har gainen lågt får man ha volymen på max.

I've never tried a Dumble amp myself. I've never been close to one (except for some artists I saw on stage, but I wasn't that close anyway). I can't say that it sounds just like a clean Dumble Steel String but actually I don't really care much about that. What I can say is taht I like a lot of the sounds that come out of it played through a clean amp. It can be used as a very nice booster with lots of character and it surely is in the area of the tones I listen to on records of people that reportedly play with such amps.
It's a great sounding very well built low gain overdrive pedal. I love it!

H
A very good pedal
Herbie1964 29.06.2020
Wonderfully open and transparent, very well made and combines easily with other drives. I use mine before a Shanks ODS-1 (Les Paul) or before a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe (Strat), for bluesy chunchy tone and great flexibility.
