Rotosound RS66EL Swing Bass

Bought them to use on my then fanned frets Dingwall bass. Had to buy another single string low B at 37". These strings has been the top of the heap since the 60s and still are.

There are some inconsistencies in production, but while they fit on great, sounds terrific, and lasts a lifetime there are some small minor caveats.

The red silk wrap. At the top tuner side, it's less of a problem, but having the red silk protrude out over at the bridge end is bad design. Not every basses are made with string through systems, or bridges that have the ball end anchored as far back as possible so that the red silk wrap is on the safe end. If it protrudes over the bridge it interferes heavily with the strings speaking length and muffle it considerably. There must be some spec listing on the package which tells how long this red silk wrap is from the ball end. So customers can make up their minds. Luckily I could make a workaround around this. But on basses where these strings fits without problems, they're the best sounding and zzzzzinnging stainless steel strings there is.

They work great for funk/tap/thumb and slap bass, but excellent for regular fingering and pick bass too. Especially on Rickenbackers with a pick. Competition is fierce out there, so if they only told us about the red silk wrap, in the first place, or skipped it altogether, it would be the string choice for my life.

Dann kam zum erstenmal ein set in der neuen Verpackung mit den farbig markierten Balls(völlig sinnfrei nur so nebenbei)
Die eh schon nie wirklich gut klingende E Saite klang flach und tot...also reklamiert und ein neues Set bekommen.
Nun war die E Saite wieder normal...aaaaaber...
Schon bei neuen Saiten viel mir auf..irgendwie klingen die anders..steriler...die höhen zu kalt...
Habe die saiten gewöhnlich ein halbes bis dreiviertel Jahr auf dem Bass weil ich den Sound liebe/liebte :/
Nun..nach nichmal 2 Monaten ist der Sound einfach nur noch öde.. Es fehlt irgendetwas..entweder zu flach im Bass bereich oder zu muffig matschig und irgendwie leblos kalt.
Auch der sustain scheint abgenommen zu haben..
Auch wenn mir Rotosound (denen ich eine Mail deswegen schickte) versicherte das alles beim alten ist werde ich denke ich nun andere Saiten ausprobieren.
Weiss nicht woran es liegt... Anderer Stahl? Schlampige Arbeit? Farbige Ball Ends??? Oder einfach nur ein mieses Set?
Bin einfach nur entteuscht..die Magie dieser Saiten ist erloschen :(
