Mooer Reecho Pro Digital Delay Pedal

Basic delay tones are fine, pretty much what you'd expect. However, it has some usability issues.

The tap tempo is what-you-tap-is-what-you-get. A switch to select between quarter, eith and dotted eith tempo would have made it more effective.

The store/recall preset function is too complex to operate. It involves pushing both footswitches at once which isn't really feasible in a live situation.

The LED is stupidly bright. I had to put several layers of masking tape over it to dim it down a bit. Pedal LEDs are supposed to be indicators, not part of the stage lightshow...

In conclusion, it's decently built for the price and has decent sounds. However, it seems to be designed by someone who doesn't really understand the needs of a live musician.

This compact and solidly built unit offers six types of delay, all of which can be complemented by one of three variations (chorus-like modulation, dynamic control that increases the level of the signal while the instrument is not played, and reverse), a ping-pong mode between the left and right channels, and a trail effect that simulates the slow decay of older delay units. This is complemented by a full sets of controls, not only for time and feedback, but also tone, and separate volumes for wet and dry signal. Aside of the standard, slight hiss of digital delays, the sound is completely satisfactory.

Add tap tempo and looper, and you have a compact and complete machine. Well, actually, almost complete: even in mono, the recording time is only twenty seconds, much less than the standard in this price range. This could suffice for the chord progression of a pop song, but is already too short for a twelve-bar blues! I consider this to be the only real flaw of this pedal.

The Reecho Pro is an obvious competitor not only to the other great white, the Boss DD-7: but also, and maybe more, to the TC Electronic Flashback. Everybody acknowledges that TonePrint gives the celebrated blue pedal an endless variety of possibilities: but while the Flashback is versatile "in the background" (as the settings must be prepared in advance and uploaded) the Reecho Pro is so "out of the box".

Vielzahl an guten Soundoptionen (Art und Sound des Delays unabhängig voneinander wählbar!), einfache analoge Bedienung und sehr kompakt trotz Tap Schalter. Klanglich absolut ok!
Alternativen sind deutlich größer und teurer oder haben weniger soundmöglichkeiten. In dieser Kategorie kenne ich kein vergleichbares Delay.

Die oberen Potis sind schon etwas fummelig, aber das geht bei der Größe auch kaum anders.
Wirklich empfehlenswert für alle die ein einfach zu bedienendes Delay mit vielen Optionen suchen aber keine presets oder Digitalanzeige brauchen.
Trifft die Lücke die sonst kaum bedient wird - zwischen den großen Flaggschiffen (strymon, eventide ...) und kleineren Geräten, die weniger Optionen und keine Tap Funktion haben.

Nachtrag:
Leider ist die Tap Funktion ganz schlecht gelöst:
Ein Echo ertönt erst nachdem man aufgehört hat zu tappen, d.h., "tappt" man durchgehend zum Beat, um das Delay immer in time zu halten, ertönt überhaupt kein Echo, klingt dann so als wäre das Gerät im Bypass. Stoppt man das Tapping, dauert es genau eine Verzögerung bis das Echo kommt. > Spielen und simultan tappen ist also nicht möglich, die Tap Funktion ist somit zweckfrei wenn man live nicht zum Klick spielt.

Mon utilisation du delay: sur ma voix en retour table, et/ou sur ma guitare en insert.

Unique dans cette gamme de prix, une pédale de delay avec effet stéréo (bien que limité au ping-pong), kill dry (avec un bémol...), filtrage des fréquences, dynamic delay (bien qu'un peu grossier...), bref un petit bijou.

Sauf que dans les faits, on se rend compte qu'à ce prix ce n'était pas possible d'avoir tout ça avec un certain niveau de qualité. Quel dommage!

Les algos sont très chouettes, surtout le "Galaxy". La pédale est robuste, facile d'utilisation. Avoir des boutons physiques pour la plupart des réglages est vraiment agréable.

Problèmes qui limitent son utilisation à des configurations d'amateur en chambre:
- souffle assez prononcé
- aucun réglage pour le ping-pong
- filtres EQ un peu grossiers
- bypass non utilisable en kill dry (donc inutilisable en retour table en live), limitant l'utilisation live de la pédale à un insert instrument, pas comme processeur de delay sur le mixeur.
- aucun réglage d'attaque du dynamic delay, or le réglage retenu par le constructeur manque terriblement de subtilité, c'est le moins qu'on puisse dire!

Après m'en être contenté pendant quelques semaines, j'ai finalement jeté l'éponge et trouvé mon bonheur avec un Nemesis Delay. Beaucoup plus cher (quoique prix encore très raisonnable si on compare aux Timeline et Timefactor), mais aucune des limitations de ce Mooer Reecho.

N'empêche que ça reste le delay le plus complet dans cette gamme de prix, et sur une guitare l'algo "Galaxy" est vraiment séduisant.

Disons que mes exigences dépassent les capacités de la chose, ce qui n'a rien d'étonnant à un prix aussi serré.
