EJ Tone?

These strings are a little thicker in bottom for that extra "oomph" needed especially when doing clean sounding things. Since the wound strings are some kind of hybrid between roundwound/flatwound they are easy on the fingers, and no finger noise can be heard as much as on roundwounds especially when overdriven.

Suits me best to single coiled passive guitars such as strats, teles since the bottom strings are more subued in the high end sparkle department.

For getting that Eric Johnson sound you have to look at other parts of your set up, in order to get it. Strings are sort of the least part in that equation.

But they stay in tune, and you can whammy with them quite hard without going out of tune. You may have to reset, readjust your floating tremolo since bass strings have slightly thicker gauge. But once done, you're good to go. The lifetime is about the same as other GHS strings, D'addarios or whatever.

Great strings
Anonym 07.03.2016
This is the first time in a long time that I buy pure nickel strings and I do like these strings quite a lot. I usually play with stainless steel strings but these have a nice, soft feeling to them. They sound as they should and the roller wounded feature makes for a nice feeling. I may be imagining but they fell maybe slighty stiffer than regular strings. It's nothing handicapping about them at all and it might just be and illusion of comparing them to the 0.9's set I have on my other strat.

Something I had forgot about nickel strings is that the finger tips get stained after a while of heavy playing. Not a big issue, but just something I thought about.

The one and only!

Used these strings for over 10 years now on all my Strats and I will never change again. The heavier strings brings out a nice low end and overall delivers great midrange sound.

Great midrange for longer scale instruments
JoCa 16.06.2014
After some testing of different strings I arrived at these, the signature strings of my number one hero, mr Eric Johnson. This is Eric's personal choice mainly for Fender guitars and others w. a scale length of 25.5" or so. This is a special gauge of the standard GHS Nickel Rockers string, that is heavier in the bottom: the lower E is a full .050 compared to .046 with the regular set.

I can see why Eric is absolutely nuts about them: they have good midrange without lacking in lows and highs. Now highs can make your distorted tones sound harsh and lows can make your tone sound muddy and flubby and this string cleverly steers away from any of these unwanted traits. And they sound do good through out the entire range under any conditions, really: highs are present but not piercing and lows are extended and tight.
