Electronics gave up after 2 months
I've been very much enjoying this instrument since I bought it earlier this summer, and first impressions ware rather positive.
The setup was good out of the box, so I haven't had to adjust intonation or the action, though I would recommend a change of strings.
The main reason I give it a low score is because the electronics completely gave up after two months of use, probably because of some shoddy soldering, and I can no longer get any sound out of the instrument.
Even at a modest pricepoint, this is just unacceptable. I've been taking good care of it and it and have only really been playing it in my bedroom, so there's no real reason anything should break this early on.
You might be alright with this if you're good with soldering and not afraid to pick the electronics apart (not sure if this would void your warranty), but you really shouldn't be expected to.
And it really is a shame, because I'd love to give this a much higher score.
Visually, it's a beautiful instrument, the finish looks great with the flamed maple top.
Pickups and tuners are run-of-the-mill, but no real issue with them.
It sounds good, but the humbuckers can get a bit muddy and drown out the treble when played with distortion, but then again it also depends on what you plug it in to.
I will continue to cherish this ukulele once I get it repaired, but having to send it back for up to a month really is a hugh blemish on an otherwise positive experience
