Closed-back speaker for when you don?t have a real cabinet
Nothing special to note about the sound or response of this speaker, but, for those times when you need a closed-back speaker, it?s a good choice.
I?ve used a few of these, and, because of its closed-back design, they have been a life-saver when I?ve needed to mount a working speaker in unconventional or ill-designed cabinets (or for those situation when there was no cabinet whatsoever).
Need a reasonably speaker mounted in a plaster sculpture? Need to just prototype a DIY project quickly without a cabinet at hand? No problem ;-)
For those odd-ball situation, the Eminence Alpha-8MRA is hard to beat.

good efficiently and easy to fit with a clean sound
If you can produce good crossovers the 8MR can work well with good 12 inch or 15 inch bass drivers in direct radiating monitors or PA cabs, to get the crossover to the HF high enough to avoid the need for powerful top units that work LOW. Many compression drivers like this are expensive and do not manage a a really sparkling high frequency range. Using an 8MR takes the honk away!!!
