This is John Petrucci in a pickup
Anonym 10.12.2014
One of the best neck pickups I've tried, and I've been through most of what Dimarzio produce. It's harmonically rich, fat and high output with a full frequency range. It cleans up well when the volume is reduced and doesn't loose too much treble (as per the Dimarzio Breed). Its not overly boomy on a 24 fret guitar but produces a nice rounded output when the upper frets are played on a heavily overdriven amp. Not thin and brittle like the Evolutions, or muddy like other pickups in the neck position.

The trouble with a pickup such as this is that it makes at least one aspect of many other high output pickups sound inferior!

Installation is dead simple, so long as you know how to use a soldering iron and know what flux is, the flex is more than long enough, just don't be tempted to cut it too short.

Quick delivery from Thomann as usual.

Perfect for lead.

Bought this as I was changing my active pickups and I wanted more versatility, and I use this along a Pegasus in the bridge.
Even though it's more of a high output, metal pickup, the LiquiFire has a TON of clarity and it can put out glassy cleans as well. I have a push-pull switch and the coil split sounds really strat like. It's like having a metal axe and a blues guitar in one !
I am pleasantly surprised with this pickup and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a lot of tonal character and really great cleans (strat-like with a split !)

Goo quality and high level of output
louisdeslee 28.02.2017
I wanted a pair of humbuckers to replace the pickups of my PRS se custom 24.
I heard a lot of good about DiMarzio CrunchLab and LiquidFire so I've decided to try them.
Result is : the output level is very high, witch could be good or bad, depending on what you want.
I've configured the electronic the have those pickups splitable, witch turns out to be a good choice and makes my PRS highly polyvalent.
To my mind, we have here a pair very good humbuckers, high quality, but more designed for metal or hard rock.
As a Blues player and if I had to choose again, I think I would give a shot to The Seymour Duncan JB & 59 instead.

DiMarzio LiquiFire DP227 BK review
Anonym 13.07.2014
I bought the DiMarzio LiquiFire in conjunction with the DiMarzio Crunch Lab to be used in my Ibanez RGR321EX. The LiquiFire produces a very warm tone and is great for fat lead sounds and big solos. However the pickup works well for Jazz, Soul and R&B. The installation process was fairly straightforward using the manual that came with the pickup and there were even spare parts left over. I play anything ranging from death metal to jazz and so far this pickup has been handling everything extremely well. If my guitar fitted with the pickup was stolen I wouldn't hesitate to get the same set again.

Well-defined sound
Infestissumam 25.09.2013
I´m using it as a neck pickup in a Les Paul Standard and compared to the Di Marzio D Activator i was using before, the LiquiFire has a lot more controlable sound. This pickup has a great clean sound but what I liked the most is the fact that you can use overdriven sound for rhythm without muddiness and still have a great lead tone.
Very versatile.

Amazing lead tones
Rob H. 14.05.2013
i bought this pickup to go with the Crunchlab that i bough, the pickups voicing is clear and full with a nice warmth to it and roundness. goes well paired with a crunchlab, has amazingly full and warm clean tones and sound vocal and punchy when playing leads.
if you are a fan of John Petrucci, Misha Mansoor, Haunted shores, Animals as leader or Tesseract this can handle all of the progressive tones and shines when put through a clean amp such as a bassman.

The sound is extremely articulate for a neck pickup and never gets muddy. This thing can even do chugging! Sweep picking and hammer-on/pull-off licks sound like well, Liquid Fire. The soloing sound is so fluid and watery. For classic rock tones, the LiquiFire is great. That being said, the extremely warm cleans this pickup puts out are very good too, especially in parallel mode. They aren't conventional, but have loads of character that one wouldn't find in a classic rock or jazz pickup. It also cleans up well with distortion on, with the volume knob rolled down. With the tone dropped all the way and in parallel mode, the LiquiFire actually gives a decent jazz tone. Nothing any professional jazz player would gig with, but certainly useable at home.
