Noise beast - a monster - harsh noise fans rejoice!
Earl Langoustine 09.06.2022
We met the Befaco guy at Superbooth and told him how much we loved this module. He got a big smile on his face and said some people just didn't get it - why he would make such a thing? This module is for fans of WEIRD sounds. If you're a fan of any kind of harsh noise, from the seething putrid drones of Wolf Eyes to the harsh noise walls of Vomir or Masonna, to even the outer space horror drone of Hawkwind, you'll know from the instant you plug it in what a gem this is. You will LOVE this module.

The Noise Plethora consists of three sections. The top two are digital noise/feedback sources which Befaco designed to achieve a diversity of harsh noise sounds. Terrifying drones, feedback wails, demonic FM, crumbling noise walls - this module does it all! Each digital source takes not one but two CV inputs, and then runs through a resonant analog multimode filter (guessing 12 dB/oct) which is truly the piece de resistance (or perhaps the coup de gras) of this design, allowing a maximum of sonic sculpting possibilities. The bottom section is a simple white noise generator, which also offers a "grit" output of pseudorandom noise impulses, similar to record crackle (or the final output of the SSF Quantum Rainbow). These two sources can be mixed and filtered to taste on their own outputs.

This module does so much and what's more, it's entirely possible Befaco will upgrade it with new sounds. This module is (probably) based on the Rebel Tech Owl digital platform, which is found in the Befaco Lich and elsewhere. You can look up on Github to see how the individual noise sources were patched (though the designer told us that he just configured them so they sounded right!). The possibility of this module making even more noise is so exciting.

The Noise Plethora truly fills a niche and shows the real potential of Eurorack in combining analog and digital to create new possibilities for sound designers, be they film composers or mutant basement psycho freakers. If you know, you know. This module is a dream - or your worst nightmare!!

Amazing noise generator with lots of options and dedicated analog filters
NoJe 18.10.2022
I am so in love with this module. There are so many noise options and you can even filter them. There are 3 noise generators, 2 digital sources (each with 30 types split equally in 3 banks) with each an analog filter and a 3rd section with a gritty and white noise, which can also optionally be filtered with an analog filter. Check the manual for the details.
