Perfect room dampers
The color might not be to your liking, but it fits with most studios and rooms. I use it for mastering and not recording. I use close to medium distance monitors with concentric speakers (Tannoy) and can't play too loud with much bass under 40 Hz. These dampens the room resonances at certain frequencies quite well, and dampens room reverb.
It's easier to hear phase incorrectness of recorded reverbs, and if anything sits right in the middle of the mix. I've discovered too, that your "sweet spot" between the speakers, is a tiny bit more expanded. I e that you have not to sit exactly between a sweet spot between the speakers to hear stereo perfectly. This is mitigated anyway with Tannoy concentric speakers, that have the tweeter in the middle of the woofer. They are turning a bit dusty now, after 7 years, and you can vaacum clean them CAREFULLY.
It's important to know that these ones doesn't isolate sound proof a room from leaking into the neighbors space. It's just for internal dampening in the same room as you're listening in. When doing some digital calibrating of room frequencies through software/high end microphone there was very little to adjust in any frequency (say max 0.5 db+-) to produce flat frequency response. My room has no additional carpets, just domestic ones. And regular roof with no sound proofing at all.
