The best upgrade for any machine heads.

This is the third time I've modified a guitar with Ratio tuners, from a Mexican Fender to a Gibson Custom shop. The process takes about 15 minutes, and is easy as long as it's a straight swap (most tuners are). Fitting plates are supplied, but you'll need to make a special order to get gold or chrome plates (or any Fender 2-pin style). Check the Graph Tech site for a part number and ask Thomann to order it.
The machine heads are well made, very smooth in operation, and the individual ratios makes each tuner highly accurate and predictable. Having tried them I won't fit anything else now: If it's worth upgrading you might as well get the best.

Really well made tuning mechanisms

As a locking tuner set, these are just superb quality.
The locking aspect is great, but if you're looking at these you probably already looked into that enough to know what it is about.
The ratio part of this set is amazing too!
For reference, I've got a set of Daddario EXL110BTs on it and tuning is far, far more easy now. Since the ratios are geared to specific string sizes, the results technically vary per string diameter, but in practicality I don't think you notice it. These ratio tuners still give their benefit, regardless of string gauge used.
Tuning is smooth and easy, much less of a hassle. Especially after a restring.

This is undoubtedly a high end product and it is priced as such. Good sturdy construction and comes in a well designed package. One major problem for me was the fact that it didn’t come with the gold mounting brackets I required for my Les Paul. This was very disappointing and delayed my much anticipated upgrade. To be fair they supplied bare metal mounting brackets for the majority of guitar types, but I still was left with a bad taste inn my mouth. GraphTech should I believe include gold mounting brackets for gold machine heads and at £135 they really should. I have not been able to sort out this problem and cannot therefore rate their performance, that is a pity and my beloved Les Paul remains redundant. Hence only four stars

Best tuners

I bought this tuners as a replacement for ESP branded tuners on my LTD EC-1000 VB from 2009. ESP tuners were not bad and they served their purpose, but this Graph Tech ratio tuners are really something else! They are easy to install and they were direct replacement for my old tuners.

Really precise and fine tuners, in combination with String Butler and a bone nut I barely have to tune my LTD.
