Smooth switching with lots of permutations
Marty V 18.12.2019
Whether you need to set up Tosin Abasi's Fishman Fluence signature set and switching configuration or just want to serial-parallel switch a set of Seymour Duncans with coil split, this is the switch you need.
With four rails and five switch positions you can set up your signal chain any way you want to. The connectors are on a PCB and there are 24 of them. One for the zero and five for the positions over 4 rails. Also the action is very smooth but precise enough to get the right pick up configuration on the fly. Combine it with push pull switches to expand even more on the permutations. Like phase invertion or adding tone capacitors. True, the setup can be a bit of a puzzle with all those connectors but the quality and versatility makes it worth the effort. A little remark on the finishing, I feel taht the plastic knob could have been made a little better, I had to use a little drop of glue to make it stick.
I used this combined with two push pull switches to get 15 possible voices out of my Tosin sig Fishmans in my Ibanez RGA8 and set up my Seymour Duncans with coil split and parallel serial with just one push pull in my RG7420. Enjoy!

So many options …
Mart69 16.01.2022
This switch is probably one of the best switches of its kind that you will ever need to buy. With so many wiring options you will be hard put to exhaust the configurations available to you. Yes, if you are inexperienced at wiring pickups it may be a little daunting but the sheer quality of this item is enough to make up for and kind of steep learning curve and the price tag. If your configuration needs are not so complex I would suggest looking at the “S” version which is suitable for strat or Jem type setups. If you want to make the most of your Fishman Tosin Abasi set, for example, you could do infinitely worse than giving these a look.

Good, but expected more.
Alexandr Mardari 26.10.2020
After first checking before soldering spring plate felt out of a switch and it losed 5 steps separation. How it can be possible, I don't understand. I've made a little bend on a plate in the place where the ball toches it before installing spring plate back into switch. otherwise it is losing central position and falling out. After all made switch works flawlessly.

Versatile, quiet alternate switch, but no dedicated shield terminals
Mz/x 24.07.2021
I use this with a HSS guitar, it can replicate the classic XXS, XSS, XSX, HSX and HXX setups, but of course you can make the HXS or other combinations, too.

I used this for two setups, one was a traditional HSS wiring and for the second I played with the combinations of the single pickups. Worked great in both cases, for the first I used 2 circuits and for the second I used all 4 circuits. Both setups worked great.

It can switch 4 independent circuits. ABCDE to F, GHIJK to L, MNOPQ to R and STUVW to X. It's got a thick metal housing, the switch is quiet.

The only negative point is related to the thick metal housing, you can't really solder anything on the housing itself (I've got a 25W thick iron, still it struggles with this). I'd add thin, easily solderable terminals to connect the housing to shield. It'd result in much tidier wiring. My workaround was to unscrew one of the screws that hold the PCB and just wind a shield wire around it and screw back, It does the job, but then you'd need to add some insulating tape behind, not to short the rest of the wiring, eh. Since the metal case is insulated from the circuit, you have floating big chunk of metal half-enclosure around the signals you want to switch, not a very good idea. Bottom line: I would've wanted dedicated, easy solder shield terminals for this kind of money.

All in all, if you're looking for an update compared to a traditional 5 way switch, this is a good candidate, just bear in mind you'd probably need to use the PCB screws for shield connection.
