Mid grind, high end zing and quality hiccup
This is a great sounding pickup if you are going for a modern heavy tone. Not a lot of low end and warmth, but if you consider it you are after Geezer, not James Jamerson. Shouldn't be described as thin, but tight. Lots of clarity and grind both when clean and distorted, without boominess or fuzziness. All for such an affordable price.
I didn't like the hassle I went through to get the EA pickup sorta paralell to the strings (it rotates when the screws are tightened, had to be creative with the foam, found geezers on the internet facing the same issue).
Because of the short cables and large potentiometers the only way I could fit everything nicely inside my Squier VM Precision was by inverting tone and volume pots.
The pickup screws' heads stick out of the pickup contour so if you are to remove the pickguard, you should fully unscrew the pickup first.
I wish more time and effort were spent on getting the physical and practical aspect of this pickup right. Nevertheless, I don't regret any of the not-so-many euros I spent on this pickup.

It's a bargain
I just put these EMG PHZ in my Squier Affinity P-Bass. Guitar sounds much better, give new life to my old cheap P-Bass. Very impressed with the tonal improvement, adding much more depth to the sound and lots of clarity and character. Solderless connections are very easy to install. For this price it's just a bargain.
