Dull for a steel set
These are supposed to be the best strings out there. You're paying for the premium and you should get the best, right? NOPE. Compared to other stainless steel sets, these feel very dull. D'addario ones look and sound much brighter. Even the cheap 10€ Warlock strings are better than this, albeit with shorter life.
It would be acceptable if it wasn't for the low B string. It is BY FAR the worst part of this set. The other lighter strings are actually still pretty good. However, the low B is useless piece of crap. Not only it sounds completely lifeless, you will have zero sustain on notes, and zero attack. I'm attacking the string as hard as a human can, but still no attack. Absolutely worst string I've ever used.
Don't waste your money on this. They are good for 4 string sets but the 5th string makes this set unusable. For me the steel D'addario sets are the best sounding ones by far. If you want cheaper options, get Warwick Red Labels.

Lasting Bright Tone
Elixir have really hit the nail on the head here, giving the best of both worlds with these bass strings - great tone, and great durability. Three months in and I still have a crisp tone that overdrives just as well as it did on day one. These are without a double the best bass strings that I've ever used, with the only downside being the price.
I initially had these on an old Stagg bass, but I eventually transferred them over to my new Harley Benton. One thing to be weary of when using these strings is the gauge of the B string - some bridges may need extra work to fit strings that size, though I'm sure Elixir have these strings available in other gauges.

Pricey strings, but high quality.
I used Elixir nanoweb nickel plated steels before, which lasted for one and a half year. So far, these stainless steels play and feel great, even though the B is a little dull. With good care, I expect them to last really long.

Excellent choice for the studio bass
Bass guitar strings naturally last a long time—much longer than regular guitar strings. However, for a studio bass, which will be played by many different people and will often go long periods without playing, the nano-coating on these strings really helps to keep the sound punchy. Given the extra longevity, these are surprisingly well-priced. We don't intend to go back to non-coated strings: sound is great, price is reasonable.

Elixir 14782 Stainless Steel 5 L/M
Elixir 14782 Stainless Steel 5 L/M strings are an excellent choice for bass guitarists who value high sound quality, durability and playing comfort.
One of the key benefits of Elixir Stainless Steel strings is their stainless steel construction, which delivers a bright, clear and punchy sound with a characteristic articulate bass. This allows bass lines to cut through the mix and remain crisp even at high volumes.
In addition, Elixir Stainless Steel strings are characterized by high tuning stability and durability. Their special coating provides protection against oxidation and corrosion, allowing them to retain their sound and playability for a long time. This is especially important for bass guitars, where the strings are subjected to considerable stress.
In addition, Elixir 14782 Stainless Steel 5 L/M strings provide a comfortable playing experience thanks to their smooth finish and minimization of unwanted friction. This makes them an ideal choice for long playing sessions and performances.
