Great speaker!

Somebody knocked over my 1978 Twin reverb that was fitted with 2 of these 12" monsters. I needed a few new tubes and a new speaker.
Speakers are important for tone. And these speaker are great in my opinion.
I had them hocked up to different amps, and found that for my ears the speakers are more important than the amp.
There is no tone-control on a speaker.
These speakers have a great 80 Watt voice from themselves.
Obvious that people have different taste, but try one of these speaker if you have a chance. You might like them as well.

Still breaking in the speaker at the moment but the clarity of the notes is a step above the Celestion V-Type in my Bassbreaker cab. Great sound.

Ein Speaker der nie weh tut... !

Der Speaker wurde bei meinem Orange Rockerverb MK II 50 Combo gegen den originalen V30 Speaker getauscht. Der originale V30 Speaker hatte für meinen Geschmack im Bereich der oberen Mitten und Höhen eine zu starke Betonung, die vor allem im verzerrten Betrieb störend war. Dieser Speaker ist grundsätzlich was den Bass- und Mitten Bereich betrifft sehr ähnlich, aber oben rum, viel runder und angenehmer. Man kann den Ton am Amp nun viel besser formen und das persönliche Verhältnis zwischen Mitten und Höhen finden. Interessanterweise klingt die 16 Ohm Variante (die ich auch getestet habe) etwas anders. Etwas zurückhaltender würde ich sagen und nicht ganz so fokusiv (eher breiter)! Ansonsten ein Top Speaker - der wie gesagt niemals weh tut ! :)

Mes 4 cabs utilisés en live et en studio sont des 2x12 il sont équipés de V30 pour certains et CL80 pour d'autres. Le CL80 sonne nettement moins agressif que le V30 et produit un rendu plus précis et net dans le bas. Les leads sonnent plus droit avec les CL80. (mon style est ROCK/Hard 80 et groove : satriani, vai, ...).
