Must-have for every drummer

Wicked Chops is what every drum teacher should tell their students to practice on. It forces you to pay attention to the way you hold your sticks in order to control how and where they land. Your strokes naturally become more controlled and even as a result. It will eliminate a lot of errors out of the way you handle your sticks. In the beginning it's very unforgiving, and in my case it forced me to slow down to start building up a good technique almost from the ground up. Just stick to regular practice on this pad, and your sticking will become precise, subtle, powerful and controlled. I don't usually write reviews, but this really is a game changer, and I'm really grateful for what this pad has done for me in a relatively short amount of time. In case it's not clear, I'm extremely happy with this product, and I simply recommend every drummer to get one asap.

Für die "weak hand" und gute Nerven!

Das Teil ist recht teuer für ein bisschen Aluminium mit Gummi drauf. Aber wenigstens hat Ahead es geschafft, genau den richtigen Punkt zu treffen zwischen "zu schwer für die Hosentasche" und "zu leicht, so dass es auf dem Tisch weghüpft". Man kann das Pad tatsächlich auf einen Tisch stellen und üben.
Besser ist natürlich auf einem Stativ. Dann zeigt sich die ganze Boshaftigkeit dieses kleinen Teilchens. Wenn ein Schlag daneben geht, dann geht der daneben. Das macht keinen Spaß. Die Investition ist daher auch nur für Leute lohnenswert, die ein echtes Anliegen haben, ihre Handarbeit zu verbessern. Mit diesem Pad ist das Üben echte Arbeit und man muss sich konzentrieren, um genau zu sein: in der Schlagfolge, Treffgenauigkeit und Stockkontrolle (auch beim Rebound).
Der Sound ist ein hohes Plopp auf Zimmerlautstärke (Vorsicht vor dem Körperschall!). Der Gummi ist wie eine straff gespannte Snare bzw. Marching. Ich spiele mit Nylonköpfen, bislang (ca. 6h Spiel... äh Arbeitszeit) keine Verfärbung. Auch schon mal auf Steinboden gefallen, aber keine Delle zu sehen.

Fazit: das Pad macht keinen Spaß. Aber es tut genau das, wozu es da ist: es bringt Dich dazu, in die Mitte der Trommel zu hauen, wenn Du Dir die Arbeit machst.
