Amazing preamp that doesn't color the sound all that much. The mids are quiet powerful. I use it with a set of Nordstrand PJ6 pickups and it sounds awesome. This preamp has quite an output and needs two 9V batteries.

I’ve just wired up this preamp. It took me 2 hours for a novice being careful. It worked first go! Aguilar have wiring diagrams for many different use case options. I picked a master volume, blend, passive tone switch, stacked bass volume and a switched low/high mid knob. You may have to buy pots depending on what you want to implement. It cames with a toggle switch and three 50k pots. I didn’t use any of the pots supplied as I want a very specific 5 knob set up.
The tonal options are awesome. It’s like having a bass head on your bass. I’m going to have to relearn how to play! It gives great flexibility to change sounds quickly between songs or in the middle of a song. I coupled this with a pair of Aguilar DCB pickups and am delighted with the result. I recommend this highly.

This Preamp will take your bass to another level.
Just installed those in my Jaguar Bass and the diference is amazing! The clarity in the sound is excellent, totally recommend!

Don't waste your time!
Thomann didn't describe this as an add on kit to your current set up! This is exactly what it is!You need to keep all your pots! The installation is a breeze! NOT! Absolutely not fun! Over 15 solders later and it still didn't work! In my opinion get something pre-wired, a complete set - ready to rock n'roll! This kit is not only very expensive but also totally over-rated! I have used many active circuits in the past! Nordstrand, East and Bartolini! They are all 100% more user friendly than this pile of rubbish! My Advice - walk away!!!!!!!!!!
