Mollenhauer 2446 Canta Tenor Recorder

I've been playing the concert flute for 32 years, but due to muscular skeletal issues that prevent me from holding my flute any longer I have moved to the recorder. A traditional flute maker recommended that I try the recorder. I feel completely silly not having thought of it before because I can play my tenor for hours without muscular recourse. It took several weeks to get used to holding the weight on my thumbs but that is no longer a problem. I don't use a strap so I can quickly switch between tenor and soprano within a piece. I will say that I was completely surprised by the sound quality of this instrument. It is rich and complex and I find my self doing a lot of long note rehearsal because the notes have such a beautiful tone. I know that this flute is considered 'entry level' but it is a superb piece of craftsmanship. Having learnt the recorder at school and hating it due to the actual instrument quality, I would recommend that all learners start out on wood. It really can determine whether or not you stick with the recorder or not. I am so disappointed that I didn't re-discover this wonderful instrument years ago.
