A total mess, this is not the "Fusion quality" anymore
My experience with the new Fusion IV HSS: A total letdown
I just received the new Fusion IV HSS, and I felt the need to share my disappointment.
I already own a Fusion II, a Fusion III, and a Fusion Max;
this new one is hands down the worst of the bunch.
Honestly, the overall fit and finish are so poor that it doesn't even feel like a Harley Benton Fusion anymore.
The quality is closer to a budget-range Donner—it has that "plasticky" satin feel that just screams cheap.
Here are the main issues I've found:
Frets: The stainless steel frets are incredibly rough. They are not polished at all, unlike my older Fusions which were mirror/smooth out of the box.
Body Integrity: There is a crack in the wood near the bridge post that extends toward the pickup cavity.
Neck/Headstock: There isn't a single flame on the neck. To make matters worse, the headstock has a flame veneer glued on top of a plain maple neck. What's the point of that?
Fretboard: The rosewood board is covered in the same "toy-like" satin lacquer as the back of the neck. It feels terrible under the fingers.
Hardware: All the hardware is oxidized and discolored. This includes the gold tuners and even the pickup pole pieces.
This isn't even B-stock quality; it's honestly atrocious for the Fusion line. It feels like a massive step backward for the brand.
