Simple and reliable CD player

The Tascam CD-200 is a 19" format player specially designed for audio CDs. In addition to CDs, it also plays MP3 and WAV file formats and reads text information such as ID3 tags from digital files and CDs. The player offers various playback modes and can change the pitch and speed of the output data by up to 12.5%. This will be of particular benefit to gyms and other sports venues, as the playback speed of the music can be adapted to the pace of the respective sporting activity. In addition, the CD player has anti-shock/skip protection with a memory buffer, which makes its operation particularly safe and reliable. These features make the Tascam CD-200 a sleek CD player that can be integrated into any permanent installation with peace of mind.

Easy to use

The Tascam CD-200 offers a clear user interface which makes it possible to quickly find the desired function. The headphone output on the left-hand side of the front panel can be used to monitor the CD player's signal. The volume control above it allows the user to quickly set a comfortable listening volume. To the right of this is the pitch control function, which can be switched on or off as desired, so that the desired parameter cannot be changed by mistake. The display shows the text information of digital files and CDs. Additionally, the file playback selection is made here with the assigned folder buttons. On the back there is an analogue, unbalanced RCA output as well as two digital outputs - one coaxial and one optical - all of which output the CD playback signal in SPDIF format.

Tried and tested in fixed installations

The Tascam CD-200 is designed for fixed installations, making it ideal for use at live events, in hotel function rooms, bars, and restaurants, on cruise ships, and in gyms. The pitch function is particularly useful in sports venues, as it allows the music to be adjusted to the speed of the exercise. The player is also child's play to operate - whether directly via the front panel or via the battery-operated remote control: All users will find their way around intuitively. An anti-shock memory that stores audio for up to 10 seconds provides protection against shocks, making dropouts a thing of the past. This makes it a reliable CD player in any permanent installation. With the included set of screws, it can be installed in any 19" setup in which it takes up 2U.

About Tascam

Tascam started out in 1971 as Teac Corporation's distributor of professional audio equipment. The name is the acronym of Teac Audio System Company of America. Tascam was a great innovator on the market and pioneered leading technologies of the time, such as multitrack tape and cassette recorders, digital multitrack recorders (DTRS), digital mixing consoles, and so on. Today, Tascam supplies the entire sound industry with products for television and radio studios, recording studios, concert halls, conference rooms, academic institutions, commercial facilities, theatres, internet podcasters and broadcasters, music producers, and musicians.

Various playback modes and Intro Check function

The Play Mode button sets the desired playback mode. In Continuous mode, all titles are played in order, while Random mode plays the titles randomly. With the Program mode, a playlist can be created via Program Edit with the help of the remote control. The Repeat button activates repeated playback for individual tracks or all tracks. Pressing and holding the Play mode button activates the Intro Check function - which ensures that the first ten seconds of each title is played. Meanwhile, the Search buttons can always be used to jump to the next track. By holding down these buttons during playback, the tracks can be searched both forwards and backwards. With the Display button, users can switch between different types of runtime display. Here, for example, the elapsed or remaining run time of tracks as well as the remaining total run time of audio and data CDs is displayed.

Great value for money
Muggsy 11.10.2015
I was looking for a good quality CD player, without any of the expensive (and useless for my usage) features such as the Bluetooth or iPod docking. The CD200 is simple, efficient and the perfect addition to my modest home studio.

The pros:
- Sound
- Phones output
- Strong
(- Possibility to remove the rack fixings for hi-fi use)

The cons:
- No balanced outputs
(- 2U)
