Real bronze from the Far East

Zultan's most affordable cymbal series is called Aja – pronounced "Asia" – and, as the name suggests, is made in China. But unlike the machine-made B8 bronze cymbals offered in the same price range by their competitors, the Ajas are cast from high-quality B20 bronze and finished by hand. In addition to the 13" hi-hat, the Aja range includes other individual cymbals in various sizes and designs, as well as various preconfigured sets.

Zultan 13" Aja Hi-Hat Becken

B20 – the standard yesterday, today, and tomorrow

In China, people have been familiar with the manual production of gongs and cymbals for centuries, so a lot of experience has gone into making the Aja series. 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin, B20 for short, is the bronze alloy that has long been known to be the magic formula for high-quality, melodious cymbals. As the Aja cymbals are finished by hand, each one is unique, which means that slight sound variations among individual cymbals of the same model are normal. The sound of the Zultan 13" Aja Hi-Hat is crisp and balanced with a sensitive response.

Zultan 13" Aja Hi-Hat Becken, Detail

Good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune

High-quality cymbals are often unaffordable for beginners: Drummers on a budget will love the fact that Zultan Aja cymbals offer a lot of sound for not a lot of money. And it won't matter if they're playing Rock, Alternative, Grunge, Pop, or Funk – the 13" Aja Hi-Hat can be used in all of these genres and more thanks to its rich sound and precise response. This also means that this hi-hat might be exactly the thing more advanced drummers are looking for to round off their setup.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Save money – but in the right places

Anyone who's serious about drumming, be they a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, knows that the sound of their cymbals is just as important as all the great features – and the cool look! – of their newly acquired drums. No matter whether it's only this 13" hi-hat, or a complete Zultan Aja cymbal set for even better value for money – the investment is definitely worth it, because the cymbals sound so good that even experienced drummers will get years of playing pleasure from them. And the Aja range is so diverse that other cymbals from the hi-hat, crash, ride, china, and splash categories can be purchased later, or as needed, to meet players' changing demands.

My number one hats

These hats are tight, controlled and defined when closed, but can also be powerful and loud when open, making for absolutely wonderful hi-hats for use in all genres.

Fine hihat for this price level

Needed an extra drum kit because my main kit lives in another house now. Didn't wanna spend thousands, so looking for a modest price point. This is one of three sets i tested, along with the 13" Zildjan Planet Z and the 13" Millenium Still series. In the end i went for a modified the Millenium Still series (added a Meinl 8" splash to the top hat), but the Zildjans were both worthy contenders. A little too much tin and too little sizzle for me, that's why i went for the Millenium/Meinl combo. Would recommend both Zildjans for beginner level though. The Aja a bit more subtle, the Planet Z a bit louder in the bell area.

I bought these not expecting much and I was very surprised! Nice, quick "chick" sound with the pedal and a defined, bright tone closed and open with a stick
