I recently upgraded my Gretsch 5420 with TV Jones classic and classic plus pickups. The neck pickup purchased from Thomann, was, and is, every bit as good as the reports and reviews. The range of tones far surpassed the standard Gretsch blacktop, and brings a clean and bright edge when it's called for. I am still able to get that slightly dirty backroom jazz from it though. All in all, bright, clear, loud and well worth the cash.
