Good saxophone

19.05.2016
After a long time, I decided to start playing the saxophone again. So I am basically a beginner with a few previous knowledge. Since I already had good experiences with acoustic guitars from Thomann, I was also interested in a Thomann Sax. My reason was that the cheap instruments are rather not so, because you know, who buys cheap, buys twice. So for me only the saxophones of the handmade or the Custon line came into consideration. I then decided to use the black nickel-plated Sax of the custom line. Admittedly for optical reasons. I always wanted to have a black saxophone.
I ordered the instrument by phone at Thomann, whereby I was helped by the really very nice seller.
When the saxophone came to me, I had to realize that it looks a bit different, as the picture on the Thomann homepage suggests. Perhaps the Thomann coworkers here again to the photo apparatus grasp ;-)).
The corpus is not completely painted, as in a corresponding Selmer or Yanagisawa, but in a very, very dark silver shining. The mechanics are glossy gold-colored. In any case, the instrument is truly beautiful. I spent the first evening almost just looking at it and looking forward to it.
Good-looking saxophones build, but can be many. The essential thing about an instrument is of course the playability and the sound. For playability it is said that it is, not least through the included Selmer mouthpiece, really relatively easy to play. It speaks well and reacts to every nuance. The upper location is a bit more difficult to play, but also here, after some practice, it is clear. The sound of the saxophone I would describe as very clear and also powerful. The mouthpiece sounds rather good - or to express it more friendly - has a more classical tone. Knarzig-soulige tones should not be expected here, although the saxophone delivers these sounds, with a different mouthpiece. But then they are more difficult to play.
The processing of the custom line saxophone seems pretty good. I also had the saxophone tested by an experienced saxophonist, and he was quite impressed by the instrument.
So I would say that the Thomann Custom Line Saxophone fulfills the requirements of a good mid-range instrument at a very good price
