The Thomann 33 1/4 Europe is inspired by double basses made in Saxony and Bohemia during the early 20th century. Its outline follows the viola da gamba shape typical of the region, with a flat back and purfling at the upper heel. The instrument is built entirely from solid tonewoods: Spruce for the soundboard, and maple for the back and ribs. It features a 90.5cm scale length, corresponding to the widely used 1/4 size. An ebony fingerboard offers a smooth and robust playing surface. Each instrument is set up in the Thomann workshop, and string height adjustments can be requested. A set of versatile and durable strings is fitted as standard, making the instrument ready to play "out of the box".

Sehr gutes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis

Für unsere Streicherklassen haben sich diese Bässe sehr bewährt: Der Stimmstock steht auf einem Brett, das den Boden verstärkt. Dadurch bekommt der Bass eine gute Stabilität. Normalerweise ersetze ich bei Instrumenten dieser Preisklasse die Saiten, war hier aber nicht notwendig.

Wir sind sehr zufrieden.

Gutes Instrument...

...nachdem man beim Geigenbauer war. Davor konnte man das Ding kaum spielen, weil die Saitenlage extrem hoch war. Jetzt ist er aber wunderbar spielbar und klingt für meine Ohren ziemlich gut. Das ist allerdings mein erster Kontrabass und ich habe daher wenig Erfahrung. Aber sowohl Kontrabassleher als auch Geigenbauer meinten, der Bass wäre sein Geld durchaus wert.
