This amp is relatively good overall. It has its own pros and cons, just like many other amps in the same price range really. These pros and cons are mostly just a matter of personal opinion.
Pros:
- Large, powerful amp, can produce extremely high volume and is perfect for gigs.
- Many different settings and sounds you can get, as each channel has 3 slightly different voicings as well as a control for the built-in reverb, it's quite versatile
- Has features at the back panel such as FX loop, and adjustment for damping, power and controlled speaker output
Cons:
- This amp is heavy, even for its size
- The overall sound of the amp in my opinion is a little bit on the muddy side, particularly on the distortion channel, getting a somewhat decent sound took a bit more tweaking than you'd think.
In general this is a good amp with Peavy's signature TransTube technology. The bandit 112 has always been a popular amp among low to moderate budget rigs, with its versatility, there are many different sounds you can get from it and it can reach some extremely high volumes. I personally think the original verson of the Peavy bandit (the red stripe) sounded a bit better and if it was still available I would have chosen that one... Although this one is still decent
