Nice beginner Hi-Hat!

When I bought this Hi-Hat, I was looking for something affordable and I found that this was a good choise! You get what you pay for with this Hi-Hat and as a beginner it is nice but as I am becoming more of a jazz drummer, I would prefer a lighter Hi-Hat because this one is more full and thicker sounding to me. I would still prefer it though because of how great it feels to play!

The basic sound of the hi-hat is roughly in line with the sound example here at Thomann, but in the true sense of the word, there is a glassy, ??very cutting sound that just makes me crazy. When you hit the hi-hat closed, it sounds a bit louder for a while. This is similar to the sound when you close your hi-hat with a lot of power, then you get a similar resonance. Only that this sound is always present in the PST8. You can totally forget the chick sound. That sounds like swordplay ...

I have already sent back the first hi-hat and have it replaced by Thomann, because I thought it was a production fault, which can happen with hand-hammered cymbals. After a few days, the new hi-hat was already there. As it turns out, the tone in the second copy is also present, but not as pronounced as in the first. Thus, the second hi-hat will go back to Thomann the next days. I will then have to look for another hi-hat.

It's a shame, since the basic sound is available and sounds good too. But it just can not be that I hear a high pinging every time I hit it. If you want to get an idea, you should first listen to a few videos of the Sound Edge HiHat on Youtube. In most videos, this sound is not heard, so I assume that there are probably some copies that do not give this cutting sound.
