I was pretty excited when I found this small amp it seemed like the perfect solution for practicing at home without spending a fortune. It was compact, affordable, and had just enough features to make it seem like a solid choice for home practice. But after plugging in for the first time, that excitement didn’t last long.
The tone was hard to work with. Instead of a proper EQ, it had this single "shape" dial that just didn’t give much control. No matter how I tweaked it, I couldn’t land on a sound that actually felt good. It was either too muddy, too harsh, or just lifeless.
The volume control wasn’t much better. I was hoping for something I could play quietly with at home, but it was either barely audible or way too loud. There didn’t seem to be a sweet spot where it sounded decent at a manageable volume.
And then there was the headphone output, which was supposed to have cab emulation. But even with a pair of high-end headphones, the sound was just rough and super distorted. It didn’t feel like cab emulation at all, more like a broken signal.
That said, on a more positive note when you crank the amp and pair it with high-output pickups like Gibson 496R/500T, it does manage to deliver a surprisingly decent chugging tone. Cab used - Victory 212 with 2xV30-ies.
All in all, it was a bit of a letdown. I ended up returning it and decided it’s probably worth investing a little more for something that actually sounds good and works the way you need it to.
