I think of the DS of Muramatsu as a wild horse to be tame, a kind of thoroughbred that will be able to give you great joys, but they are not free. You have to learn to take advantage of it. I think for a professional is a perfect instrument, I estimate that you have to play a couple of hours a day, maybe a minimum and a half so that the sound and expressiveness are perfect. I am an amateur who barely reaches an hour a day. When I play consistently several days in a row the experience is wonderful; But if I fail someday or play less I find it harder to reach the round sound. The bass, mid and treble are very balanced when you reach that level. The mechanism and the sealing of the keys are fantastic, I may find it hard to get used to the position of the keys of trills and sometimes I play them inadvertently, I suppose that is normal with any new flute, you have to adapt. It is a very expressive flute - for jazz or popular music for example it admits sounds "dirty" with much air -, and the clean ones are precious. The answer is quick. I have a version Thick wall, I could not compare with the other ... At first I was worried if the weight was going to be a problem but no, the truth is that nothing affects me. Perhaps compared to my previous flute (a Silver Pearl) and others that I have tried tend to break the note due to excess air but that can influence my mouth and each flautist will have a different response and sensations ... I am very happy with it and I hope it continues to give me satisfactions for many years. Of course the best thing for any interested is that they try flutes ... but I hope my opinion can clarify something.
