An inconspicuous little box

An ABY splitter might not be the first pedal that comes to mind when building a pedalboard, but this unassuming little box offers surprising versatility across a range of applications thanks to its ability to split and switch audio signals with ease. The Mooer Micro ABY Box MKII exemplifies this utility in a compact, mini-pedal format that can operate passively - requiring no power supply except for the built-in LED that indicates its current mode. Simple, affordable, and space-saving, the Mooer Micro ABY Box MKII is a convenient solution that fits effortlessly onto even the most crowded of boards.

A and B and Y

The Mooer Micro ABY Box MKII combines an ideal footprint with a clean, intuitive layout, featuring just a sliding switch and a footswitch - everything users need for seamless operation. In A/B mode, the footswitch allows players to send a signal to two different destinations and toggle between them effortlessly, making it easy to route one guitar to two amplifiers or connect two guitars to a single amp. Switch to A and B mode, and the pedal functions as a constant Y splitter, enabling simultaneous output - whether running one guitar through two amps or playing two instruments through one. Mode selection is handled simply via the toggle switch, keeping everything streamlined and user-friendly.

Brave new world

Modern guitar rigs can get seriously crowded - wet/dry setups and stereo configurations are now more common than ever, and navigating this complex landscape of pedalboards and routing requires the right tools for those chasing big, immersive sounds. The Mooer Micro ABY Box MKII offers a way to stay organised and in control, bringing clarity and structure to even the most chaotic setups. For guitarists who love to experiment, the pedal opens up creative possibilities they might not have considered, like building two distinct effects chains and switching between them instantly with a single tap - no need to stomp on five pedals at once. With a simple ABY box, the entire approach to rig design can be reimagined.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

A handy little helper

The Mooer Micro ABY Box will fit effortlessly onto any pedalboard and integrate seamlessly whenever needed, offering flexible functionality even for players who switch between acoustic and electric setups, where it can serve as a simple channel switch. With modern electro-acoustic instruments featuring multiple outputs - e.g. for piezo and magnetic pickups - the pedal allows musicians to toggle between them or blend both signals simultaneously, making it a handy and versatile tool for everyday playing. While The Mooer Micro ABY Box can operate passively, using the LED indicator requires a standard 9V DC power supply - this is not included, but the pedal is compatible with nearly all common pedalboard power sources, ensuring easy integration into any rig.

I
Does what it should do

Use:
I use it to split the output signal into the Top Boost and Normal input of my VOX AC30. This way I can switch from a cleanish sound to a more dirtier tone. Before I had this pedal I used to walk to my amp and plug my cable in and out into the different inputs, which is not something you want to do live.

Pros:
- It's really small, smaller than other splitter's I've seen. This makes it easy to fit on any pedalboard.
- It's easy to use. I didn't need a manual or something. It's self explanatory.
- No signal or volume loss compared to directly going into the Top Boost or Normal input. It doesn't boost or change the bandwidth so you don't need to re-tweek your knobs to have the same sound you would have without using this pedal. This was something I worried about, because of the low pricing, but the output quality stays good.
- The lights are really handy for when you are on stage. I use Blue for Normal and Red for Top Boost. When you walk around the different lights pretty wel from a distance
- I like the fact that it's a simple pedal with no unnecessary extra's.
- The footswitch feels good

Cons:
- It's all mono. For using mono instruments, it's not a problem, but when you would like to switch between stereo instruments, than you need something else.
- The lights are really bright, which can be intense when you use it at home. Then again, it's really clear for when you are playing on stage.

Conclusion:
It's a cheap pedal that doesn't sound cheap and does what it should do. You could also use it for switching between 2 guitars (or other instruments) without having to keep plugging in and out. I'll Probably buy an extra one in the near future!

Using this to switch between guitars on stage. Works perfectly, without any loss of volume, and the pedal seems sturdy too.

Does exactly what its supposed to, splits a single instrument signal into two switchable or simultaneous signals, no audible loss in signal quality, overall sturdy and well built. Worth the price!

LS
discrete and works great

very discrete and works perfectly. I use this to merge a parallel signal for bas. I keep this guy under the board permanently set to to Y. totally passive unless you want to plug it in for the LED indicator light. otherwise it requires no power.
