The good piece may well fit perfectly on a current reissue model but all who, like myself, are looking for an authentic replacement for an original 60s model, will not spoil postprocessing, but they will pay off!
The only alternative - often for many years online with various online vendors looking for an original pickguard and pay for it a few hundred euros ...
Tip: Do not carry out unnecessary ugly new holes, but carefully loosen all 3 holding devices for nails and stirrups with a sharp blade and stick in the new position (super glue). The two nails break at the same time at the slightest bending test - material error?
Often, old picture frames are lucky with similar nails and can be used as a nail dispenser.
For the repositioning of the percussion plate and / or its new-to-be-attached holding devices, the front pickup excerpt is used, which fits millimeter-exact with my early 65 model (small pickup frame, however already large switching panel, second-tier neck with binding, one 64er Poti, one from 1965)
To ensure that the rear pickup is perfectly enclosed, the cutout has to be extended by approx. 5mm forwards, which is best achieved with a file. Possibly synonymous the total length back by a few millimeters to shorten as with me and the edge with black paint nachzuackieren.
To get the same hue as an over 50 year old switching panel did not help me black tea unfortunately (4 bags with 2 hours of exposure time) - wiped with wet cloth the next day again wiped away. A second try with hair color was however very successful! First, I rubbed the glossy surface with sandpaper for better penetration of the paint (1200 grain or finer), then hair color (hue - gold brown) in the mixing ratio 1: 1 on the roughened surface AND on the underside of the Schlagplatte with toothbrush and after approx 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the desired shade), remove the bristles with a dry cloth.
So that the striking plate also receives an authentic silky matt luster with a lot of little scratches (1200 sandpaper) after two days still with Autopolitur (for matte varnishes) eagerly polished and is now no longer optically distinguished from the old switching panel! Total work: 2 to 3 hours (filing, cutting, gluing, grinding, dyeing, polishing)

Climb on a Beatles Hofner ignition (2017).
The original system (2 nails glued to the back of the pickguard) does not suit me, I "filed" to the Dremel, until the nails jumped and the support is smooth.
I kept the support of the metal tongue of the new plate. I replaced the tab provided by the original, otherwise the pickguard was too high.
(It is necessary to twist a little the old tongue so that it holds well in the new support).
And finally, I superimposed the 2 plates to drill and put the 2 original screws. (check positioning before drilling).
It goes right between the two microphones.
Very aesthetic result, especially with my "control panel made in Germany", the same color (light beige pearlescent).
Well vintage set.
