The JA-60 CC is a lovely model and the guitar actually played quite well out of the box but unfortunately it came with some quality issues, the main ones being that the tailpiece posts were not embedded properly in the body (a few mm proud of the body and angled, although it is secure and does not move); the relative saddle heights didn’t seem to match the 12” radius and in this guitar model the relative heights of each saddle are not adjustable; the pickup screws did not adjust the pickup heights instead they just unscrewed as if the foam/spring material beneath the pickups were providing inadequate upward force; and very sharp burrs on most of the tuning peg buttons.
I consulted Thomann on the issues seeking some technical advice/solutions on how to put these right.
However they said they could not advise on specific issues because if I tried to fix them it would risk invalidating the warranty.
They offered me a return or replacement which is of course is great service by Thomann in some ways but…….this model is out of stock now for 11 to 14 weeks.
So instead I accepted a discount which will more or less cover my costs of replacing the tuners.
Despite all of this I do think Harley Benton is an overall good brand for the price point and Thomann customer care is generally good.
