Easy replacement for ugly locking nut

Guitar in question is hardtail but neck was repurposed from a trem guitar. Disliked the locking nut from day one (rattles, pain to change strings and rather ugly) and when Graph Tech came out with the unlock series, I was very keen to try it out.

Installation reasonably straight forward with just a small bit of flat sanding to fit the neck nicely. Drop of wood glue and clamped over night; ready to go the next day.

Not exactly cheap for a nut but it works well for a locking nut replacement and is easier on the eye.

Definitiv eine Aufwertung

Habe die Metal Locking Nut einer LTD H351FR damit ausgetauscht. Ohne Anpassungen passte sie schon sehr gut. Ich musste nur an den Seiten ein Bisschen extra „Speck“ und vorne und hinten den Gussgrad abfeilen.

Die Saitenhöhe konnte ich sehr einfach auf die Höhe der alten Nut runterfeilen. anleimen, fixieren und am nächsten Tag neue Saiten drauf. Und sie spielt sich perfekt 👌

Das FR Special ist damit genauso instabil, bei der Betätigung des Tremolostabs, wie mit der original Locking Nut. Da ich den Stab aber nur zum Besaiten nutze, ist mir das egal. Ohne Bending mit Stab hält das Tuning sehr gut, die Resonanz ist super und das Sustain ist auch fein.

Würde es wieder wechseln. Vielleicht kommen noch Locking Tuner dazu, wenn ich das Tremolo wirklich mal zum Bending nutzen möchte 😬

I replaced the floyd rose in my Jackson with a stoptail and naturally needed to replace the locking nut. This nut fit perfectly without any sanding or filing. Time will tell if it stays that way but so far i couldnt be happier!
