Compact size, big sound

The Genelec 8350 APM is an active two-way studio monitor that delivers the first-class sound producers the world over have come to expect from the Finnish manufacturer. With its signature, stylish housing produced from lightweight die-cast aluminium, this model features two separate amplifiers with a total output of 350W, driving the 8" woofer and 1" tweeter to deliver sound pressure levels (SPL) of up to 121dB per stereo pair. In addition to its automatic start function, this speaker features integrated SAM technology, which allows multiple Genelec monitors to be optimised using software, a computer interface, and a measurement microphone. A balanced XLR input allows signals to be fed in without interference, while a protective circuit prevents driver damage by intercepting short-term level peaks. Magnetic shielding is also included as standard.

Impressive range of features

With a frequency range from 33Hz to 22kHz, the Genelec 8350 APM delivers a highly impressive low-end performance for a compact monitor. To achieve this, the speaker uses bass reflex technology, which maximises low-frequency sound pressure and extends the driver transmission range. The (deactivatable) automatic start function detects whether a signal is present and automatically switches the amplifier unit on as required. This makes the speaker easy to operate and helps save energy. An analogue XLR input, two digital XLR sockets for the AES/EBU format, and two RJF5 network ports are provided. The latter allow the monitor to be integrated into a GLM network, enabling dynamic frequency adjustments via software. Frequency adjustments can also be performed manually rather than by software.

For the discerning listener

Anyone looking for a monitor speaker with a flat frequency response, an adjustable monitoring sound for multiple listening environments, and a spacious, three-dimensional sound will not be disappointed by the Genelec 8350 APM. The speaker is an excellent choice for recording and mixing professionals who rely on consistently high-quality sound and may need to adjust its sensitivity, which can be performed using a small rotary control. The housing materials and shape also contribute to the speaker's high-quality sound, minimising resonances and ensuring optimum sound dispersion in multi-speaker setups.

About Genelec

Genelec was founded in 1976 by Ilpo Martikainen. It grew from a family business into one of the world's leading manufacturers of professional studio and broadcasting loudspeakers. To this day, Genelec's loudspeakers are manufactured exclusively in Finland. Genelec offers performance-oriented, neutral-sounding loudspeakers and subwoofer systems for audio professionals and sound enthusiasts, and a combination of innovative technology and design ensure that the range of products is continuously improving. The company is committed to sustainable development and environmental awareness. In 2018, Genelec was awarded the Pro Sound "Company of the Year" award. Genelec speakers are favourites of such recording industry veterans as Obie O'Brien, Michael Carnes, and David Reitzas, as well as of producers like Hardwell, Keith Ross, and Vini Vici.

Ideal for stereo and surround setups

Whether in a professional studio or high-quality project studio, the Genelec 8350 APM delivers outstanding results thanks to its flat frequency response and both manual and automatic room-adaptation features. It can be used not only as part of a stereo set, but also as a component in a surround setup. Genelec also offers a suitable subwoofer for this purpose – the Genelec 7360APM. When used on resonant surfaces such as a desk or stand, the integrated IsoPod comes into play, decoupling the speaker from its support surface using a combination of rubber feet and connecting bars. Threaded inserts at the rear of the housing provide secure mounting. Genelec also supplies suitable mounting accessories, such as the Genelec 4000-414B/W Wall Mount.

Awesome

I wasn't the biggest fan of Genelec monitors due to their boring shape (my opinion, of course). Still not a fan, but they sound amazing!!! The speakers are very detailed and fun to produce on. You can really hear what is going on. The GLM kit is a must and really compensates for a poorly treated room. After the swipes, the calibration process, shows you your room frequencies, so I'm thinking you can use it for treating your room more efficiently in the future. After the calibration, there is a hot switch in GLM software, where u can hear the difference between calibrated and factory setup. I'm looking forward to a Genelec sub (7360 or 7370). Genelec recommends the 7370, but I think that 7360 is more than enough for a 20-25 square meters room. The only difference is the SPL. If u are the low volume working type, there is no need for a sub.
I would exchange these Genelecs only for a pair of ATC SCM25 or Barefoot MM27.

Awesome value for money

These speakers are true industry standard and also a modern classic in a really unique position in Genelec range as they benefit from years of experience and evolution both in speaker design and dsp while also clearly paving the way for the next step in speakers evolution with their 83X1 "the one" coaxial series which are unquestionably superior to the 83X0 but also cost double the price.

Dream come true!

Exceptional monitoring and I’m fortunate to own a pair for the first time. They are night and day difference to cheaper pair of monitors. Amazing clarity in the highs. It does take adjustment with the mids. The lows are responsive and smooth. Well worth the purchase. Blown away!

Fantastischer Monitor
Ubbi 26.03.2020
Pro:
+ Super Klang! Absolut realistische Darstellung von Instrumeten
+ Super Stereopositionierung und Tiefenstaffelung (insb. nach Einmessen mit GLM-Software)
+ vergleichsweise günstig (im Vergleich zu 8341 oder 8351)

Kontra:
--- nichts ---
